Warm, welcoming service. One of our few stops where we were surprised to be dining alongside locals. As it was Christmas Eve-eve they had traditional holiday fare and some mind-blowing smoked goat to sample. Good fresh food, healthy portions, great bread, and the prices weren’t bad (considering you’re in Iceland). A great place to fuel up if you’re hiking around Myvtan.
We visited Kaffi Borgir on June 16, 2016, and had an excellent meal of lemon-lime lake trout (with brown bread, potatoes, and salad). We finished up with apple and rhubarb pie with homemade ice cream. Highly recommended!
This is my review that was censored by TripAdvisor:
About 5 minutes into a walk amidst the amazing Dimmuborgir, I heard muzak wafting over this astonishing, peaceful, beautiful place. The atmosphere broken, I pushed on but it followed me for sometime. On returning to the cafe I discovered this crass noise was emanating from Kaffi Borgir's outdoor terrace. I would suggest to anybody else similarly upset by such noise pollution not to visit the café until they change their attitude towards the nature they're supposed to be safeguarding. If you see speakers outdoors facing Dimmuborgir on their terrace it means they haven't!
I have now pasted this review to both Facebook AND Google Maps to ensure that TripAdvisor's spurious censorship of critical reviews does not succeed.
Well, as a metalhead you know why I turned here.
Was not disappointed, bought also a coffee mug
The soup buffet is the best choice. 3 kind of hot soup and bread can make you full. The hamburger is nice but not enough for a man.
You can get the earth-cooked bread here, which is quite good, but the rest of the experience was touristy and lacking. The service was so-so, the system for using the bathroom (even for those eating in the restaurant) involved elaborate electronic tickets, and the place was priced and organized to cater to tourists.
No Ice Cream (empty cooling box) and the toilet for 200kr can only be used with 100kr coins, not 50s. I didn't get my one 100kr coin back. Some cakes, coffee, beer and dry looking sandwiches.
Nice place to sit and have a coffee after wandering around Dimmuborgir
Great little spot! I had the ham and cheese, and it was awesome!
Very friendly staff 😍, great hot chocolate ☕️ and nice view. Not cheap, but toilet free for customers.
A lovely place. Great food.
Charging for toilets isn't that great. Great lava rocks.
First and only place we can't across so far that charges for the toilets. Didn't buy anything there, so I can't Suresh to the quality. Lava fields are wonderful!
Amazing burgers and a great view! The food is fresh and all organic and the prices are a lot better than other places I have tried in Iceland so far.
They have nice coffee and can help you with questions about Dimmu Borgir.
