Great place to stay in NE Iceland. Whether you're traveling to the Westfjords or just want to get away from it all, Hotel Ljósaland is the place to go. It's a little difficult to find and the wind whips through the open mountains, so dress for the weather.

Situated overlooking a valley, this little place is a great stop over. Check in was easy, and we were showed to room. There is a comfy shared (between 4 rooms) lounge space with a few sofas, free to use coffee machine, microwave and fridge.

The room was fairly spacious and overlooked the valley. It also included a little table and chairs for a private breakfast, as well as a small TV in the corner. The ensuite bathroom had shampoo and body wash, and was very clean. Despite the beds being on stilts, we had a very comfy sleep!

Breakfast is available any time from the lounge, where cereals, porridge, skyr, breads, juice and the like can be used.

After our stay, we just left the keys in the door and we were off! Cosy, comfortable, and a great place to stay on the way to the west fjords.

The rooms are so spacious, the restaurant is superb and orders an array of beers and vegetarian options. The scenic surrounding areas offer all sorts of attractions. And most importantly the staff is friendly, warm, and personable!!

Basic accommodation, but excellent and welcoming cook/owner/hotel manager :-) gave good tips to travel around - pool table is an unusual but fun element !

The young couple who holds the place is very kind. With one of their friends, they offered us a cool night of alcohol, pool (billard) and even local stories ! Lost in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. The only thing I regret is the headache in the morning due to the tequila ! Very recommended !

Arriving at Hotel Ljósaland we weren't sure what to expect or whether it was even open. We found a lovely restaurant with an amazing sunset view and a nice room with private bathroom. The food was great, both the burgers and the breakfast which cost extra but was worth it. Ljósaland is in a good location to explore Hólmavík, Reykholar and Drangsnes. The only problem was a few flies in our room but we've found these in all hotels to some extent.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The food was excellent (both breakfast and dinner), the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were really nice. Definitely would stay here again.

Could hear all the noise from the rooms next to us. Although the room was fairly tidy, it smelled of old cigarettes. Also there is a large glass part to the front door that lets in a ton of light and allows for little privacy. Not worth the money.
