Well if you have a long layover, you may be tempted to book this hotel that claims to offer a 24 hour shuttle and free buffet breakfast. If those are your decision points, consider the following:
1. The airport shuttle runs hourly between 0500 and 1200. As a result we were instructed by hotel staff to take a taxi which costed 3500 ISK.
2. The free buffet breakfast is continental, which includes: bread, deli meats, cheese, cold cereal, boiled egg, fruit, tea and coffee.
For those late night travelers seeking sleep, you may be awakened by housekeeping and/or maintenance activities beginning before 0900.
If none of these things are issues, you will find the hotel clean and the rooms to be adequate.response / report this review -

Clean and comfortable rooms with a view.
I was in a way offended by how rudely the front desk lady was treating the other guests. I know Icelanders to be among the friendliest and hospitable people in the world, this lady appears to be the exception. (Or was having a real bad day.)response / report this review -

We ended up at this hotel after being rejected from our other hotel because of overbooking. On the outside the hotel doesn't seem like much, the inside is slightly better. We got two rooms, the first one was pretty standard with a big bed and overall clean. The bathroom doesn't have a switch, rather a motion sensor so it's a bit awkward when you are taking a shower and the light goes off, then you have to step out and move your arms around. The second room was not in the main building and we had to take a 5 minute lesson on how to lock and unlock the outer door, we still didn't manage to get it right. We only spent one night there, we left early. However when we were getting ready to leave, one of the guys from the front desk opened our door without knocking and closed it immediately when we saw we were still there, so that was a bit creepy. Overall it was an ok place and stay but I would recommend picking another hotel if you are staying more than one night.

Say you're flying on WOW Airlines and your flight is delayed by just enough time to make your Iceland connection an impossibly welcome to Hotel Keilir. Want to make your stay here bearable rather than intolerable? Don't fall into the role of the disgruntled American. It's so much easier NOT to take your frustrations out on hotel staff, who have nothing really to do with your predicament, and simply enjoy your stay in one of the most picaresque seaside villages in Iceland. Get to know Breyndis at the front desk, perhaps the sweetest woman in this latitude, and invaluable in seeing that your stay is painless and memorable. And if you were unfortunate enough to leave one of your bags on the bus from the airport to the hotel, she will see that it is returned to you promptly. Be grateful -- try to be as kind as the people who greet you.

If I could give this hotel -5 stars I would. How do you give someone staying in a double room one bath towel set? I asked for an extra towel set for my son prior to dinner and was told to ask after dinner. So I called, and was told that they could not and would not bring me an extra towel set. It was after 8pm, need inmind you dinner was not until 7pm. Sorry but nothing they could do is whatvi was told. Hands down worse experience in a hotel I have ever had. I would not recommend anyone stay here.

It's a good place to stay if you want to remain close to the airport. Taxis are frequent and the ride between the hotel and the airport is only 5 to 10 minutes.
There is no elevator so the elderly and people who have special needs might find this challenging.
Breakfast is provided and was very adequate.
Due to a delayed flight I was given a voucher that included lunch and dinner as well, which are not served in the hotel. They ordered pizzas for lunch and called a nearby restaurant for dinner to which I just had to show the voucher the hotel gave me.
The staff speaks good to minimum english, depending on who you are talking to.
The room was clean and was quite convenient, the only drawback would be the lack of an extra blanket and the mattress was not as firm as I'd like. I also missed the coffee pot and coffee found in most rooms.response / report this review -

As I reflect back on 2017, it was a great year of travel. This hotel, though, was by far and away the worst place I have ever stayed. Paper thin walls mean you can hear everything people are saying in the next room. The sheets had dust mites and the floors were filthy. The toiletries were scant. Worst of all, the staff. They were rude and dismissive. Iceland is gorgeous but this place is G-H-E-T-T-O. Anyone who tells you otherwise probably had their room comped so they can keep the scam going.

The room was clean and the view was nice, however staff was extremely rude, extremely loud (noise carries) rate we booked at was changed to a higher rate at check in, breakfast said it was complimentary yet we were charged 13€ each at check in and the breakfast offering was not worth the price! There were no plates, no bowls, most platters were empty, no coffee, and we came down an hour before breakfast ended. We were told prior to reserving that the shuttle runs from the hotel to the airport until 10pm, and then were told by the hotel that the shuttle stops at noon. If you need a quick no frills place to stay and this is your only option then book it, otherwise find someplace else! This place is a D at best.

A decent room in the heart of this small town. It had everything we needed and a nice breakfast. I didn't see an elevator. Taxi from the airport was about $20.

Nice and helpful reception staff, comfortable large room, we had a balcony which was nice, we only stayed a few hours as we were placed there by our airline after a cancelled flight. Bathroom clean and modern. Bed was very very squeaky though (room 301). Rolling on one's side created a little symphony of creaks for you, your partner, and probably the people next door, to listen to. 4 stars because everything else absolutely fine and the staff excelled themselves with politeness and helpfulness.

The view from the Hotel room was stunning, and the rooms were exceptionally clean and nice. If I would point out anything, I would just say that the meal service is a little weird considering that we received a voucher to eat at another place with only one option out of their whole menu. I had to order something else at an extra cost, but the food was great. Overall, a very memorable experience.

First - The hotel staff were very helpful. But it is located across from an Irish bar. We stayed there on a Friday and Saturday nights, and it was noisy until 4am.

We booked this after the Blue Lagoon on our way to the airport. I have never stayed in such a filthy, disgusting, dirty mess of a hotel in my life. As it is, it's 1:00 am and my daughter, friend, and I are are wide awake because we can't breathe. The sheets are dusty, there's an inch of filth under each bed. What do they do? They send the owner in at 1:00 am and he cleans a small corner of the place. No joke. The female manager also screamed at my daughter to "shut up!" when she was talking. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT stay here. College frat houses are cleaner than this place. Motel 6 looks like the Ritz Carlton in comparison. Just awful.

Pretty nice hotel. Clean, good sized room. No conditioner provided (which is bad after going to the blue lagoon). They have free breakfast and a shuttle to the airport but if your flight leaves before ~8 am you won't be able to take advantage of them. For reference, a taxi to/from the airport cost 30 000 kr.

Very kind and helpful staff. The rooms aren't too big but very decent. I was in need of a last minute booking as I had to stay in iceland unplanned due to an issue with my plane and the staff could not have been more helpful. Offered to drive me to the airport at no charge. Excellent.

Lovely quaint little town about 45km away from the main town of Rejkavik.. The hotel itself is nice enough, breakfast is extra and its just a continental help yourself buffet. Its a small hotel and the rooms are small. If you are planning on exploring Iceland then personally I would hire your own car, if you don't mind driving on the wrong side, if your British And getting a map from the excursion office. Some places of interest are quite a way so for those I would recommend Rejkavik Excursions.. Real friendly staff, even if they are a little pricey. I loved Iceland as a whole, but be prepared It is an expensive place to visit and eat out

Stopped over for breakfast. Mediocre for the price. Coffee was finished and didn't fill up again. Only after we paid did she tell us that breakfast was ending in 20 minutes.

Beds were uncomfortable and noisy, pillows were extremely small, bathroom lights shut off on you in the shower, and windows wouldn't stay shut. You get the feeling that they spent their whole budget on the key card system for the doors. Location was OK, and staff was nice.

It's a cheap and cheerful hotel and I would stay there again. The only thing that lets it down is attention to detail. Great location, pick the bay side and you have a lovely view. Staff quite friendly but room for improvement and housekeeping needs a step up.
