  We drove the golden circle over 9 days and this was my favorite accommodation by far. The room was wonderful with amazing views. We chose to have dinner in the evening; the chef was lovely and his food was excellent.

  We spent eight days traveling around Iceland and by far the Hofsstaoir Guesthouse was my favorite accommodation. We changed accommodations every night so I had a lot to compare with. The setting, the room, the dinner absolutely wonderful. And the bonus was the Icelandic horses roaming on the property. The perfect photo op. I strongly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

  Very very well kept, friendly, cozy and clean place to stay, beautiful landscape with stunning view of the fjord from each room, comfortable beds, most amazing, best and tasteful food with local cuisine! Have come back here many times with only the fondest memories.

  Rooms were just rooms but the breakfast was the best we had along the Ring Road. Vanilla rhubarb jam!

  We fell in love with this place. My wife and our 2 adult children and I stayed there and had one of our best meals EVER there. The Chef, Toti, is married to the woman who's family lived here for many generations. His meals are delicious and incorporate ingredients I've not seen on menus anywhere else, ie: Birch syrup glaze. This guy is world class.
  As a special treat, we were invited to stay in their sod roofed suite. I wanted to move there the moment I saw it. The workmanship was remarkable and the warmth of the wood felt welcoming and classy at the same time.
  If we're lucky enough to make it back to Iceland, we will certainly be going back.

  Only visited the restaurant, and it was fantastic. The waitress was lovely, persuaded me to try a few drinks that I loved, and the food was delicious. Lamb is always good in Iceland, here was something else.

  My wife and I stayed at the Hofsstadir Guesthouse for one night well passing through on road no.1. It's not far off the main road - close to both Sauðárkrókur and Varmahlíð.
  
  The location is stunning with views down the valley into the fjord. It's such a peaceful spot.
  
  The hosts were both very welcoming and friendly. We ate our evening meal in the guesthouse and had artic char, which was cooked by the host. It was lovely food. Also my opportunity to try Viking beer for the first time. All very tasty.
  
  The room was clean (although we initially mistook the sulphur smell from the hot water to be some kind of drainage problem!) and warm. All very well maintained and with private bathroom.
  
  We wish we could have stayed another couple of days.

  Very secluded and quiet. The lady that runs the place is super nice. We'll most likely come back.
