Very disappointed. This is on list of places to see, and visitor centre was closed.
Wasn't open when it says it should be, neither was the hotel next door
I really repent my visit to the Hekla Center. The fee for the museum is quite high (for non-Icelandic standards at least) so we tried to make the most out of it but we only managed to stay 20 minutes.
Stuff on display often was only in Icelandic or broken. There where two screens visualizing the seismic activity of Hekla with no explanation or interpretation guideline whatsoever rendering them quite useless. At another place short stories round Hekla were projected to the black wall with the English text being red. That made it very hard to read everything, especially because each story was replaced by the next one way to early.
The only thing I actually liked was a subwoofer which played the seismic activity at audible frequencies. (although there were no explanations either)
The bottom line is a waste of time and money.
