One of the must-visit site in Reykjavik. Simple but stunning design makes it a good place for photography. I was so lucky to witness northern lights above the church. That view will never be forgotten during my life. It is certainly worth a visit. Also, its location is quite convenient, easy to access and find.

Beautifully designed church, it's huge so you can spot it from nearly anywhere in the city. The Leif Erikson statue out front adds an extra bit of awesome to this church. It's located in the center of Reykjavik so it's not too far a walk from anywhere and is surrounded with cool shops and restaurants. Definitely worth the short walk to view.

A stunning church that feels like it should be a cathedral. Positioned near to the centre of town, this is well worth a visit. The facade is very impressive and the overall simple design makes for a photogenic building. The inside structure has clear lines and is also worth seeing. Entrance to the church is free - worth checking online if there is a service. We took the lift and the few flights of stairs to the top of the tower. The observation room gives stunning views over Reykjavik and beyond - well worth the 1000isk per person.

Huge church in Reykjavik. Took over 40 years to finish building it and it is well worth it. Really beautiful inside. We were lucky enough to have someone playing the organ while we were there and it sounded magnificent. You can pay to go up to the top of the tower for excellent views over the city and I would say it was money well spent.

This is one beautiful church; simple, spacious and great reference point. Strongly recommend visiting and go up to view while in Reykjavik.

This place is kept up nicely warm during the snowy December and the photos reflect the lucky view we experienced outside.

This one of the few places where parking is free. The largest church in Iceland. Stands at 74.5 m (244 ft). It is a Lutheran church. It is right in the centre of Reykjavik. Nice place to go to just before midnight on New year's eve to watch the fireworks. It is a very good reference point.

Although an impressive structure, this was not really to my liking. It was impressive to walk up to, and the scale is impressive, but cast concrete really doesn't do it for me - I am rather spoilt with the older and beautiful churches and cathedrals of England, so this as at odds in terms of architecture and spartan adornment. Although I do like minimalism in architecture, it did not strike me as particularly welcome as tend to find churches.

However, it was replete with the appropriate peacefulness one would expect of a holy place, and there were some rather wonderful features such as the font and the ceiling is impressive. However, I didn't get the Palm tree lurking in the corner

The views from the tower are impressive, and I could not capture a good enough picture to fully embody the view - Iceland has a stark beauty that can be seen from every angle of the tower, but the pictures do not do it justice. The view is only really accessible if you can squeeze yourself in to the rather small "windows", so may not be suitable for some.

This was the sight I was most excited to see in Reykjavik. I was so disappointed that it was under repair and part of the outside were covered. This was July 2017. It was still lovely. Make sure you walk around the back because it looks like a completely different church.

You can see this church almost from everywhere in Reykjavik, it's very impressive, as other photographs show. The view from the top gives you a real sense of how small the city is. but it's a great place to visit, I've been in winter and summer, both seasons are totally different which makes the place very unique.

The sun rising behind the church and also the sunset are wonderful sights of this place. For a little price you can go up to the top to check out the view of the city.
The inside of this Lutheran temple is, as expected, minimalistic—nothing much to see, aside from the majestic I-don't-know-how-many pipe organ which sounds lordly in the great hall.
The layout of the building intends to imitate the basalt formations that form naturally at the black sand beaches, I think.

Beautiful church and great place to visit. PARKING: Free parking on right and rear side of the church. Free to enter the church. Hopefully, you can catch it when the organ player is there. Amazing! You can pay, I think $9 USD, to go to the top of the church to of Reykjavik.

A different church than you are used to. It is relatively young and is a piece of beautiful architecture. It was inspired on the basalt formations in Iceland such as the ones on Reynisfjara beach. The inside is plainly white, without too much overdone works of art which is nice and fits Scandinavian culture I think. The elevator brings you up into the tower. It gives you a nice overview of the colourful houses of Reykjavik. There is an airport very nearby so you can look at the planes landing from the top down which is quite fun.

This is arguably the most iconic building of Iceland. This was a really pretty and amazing to see. The inside is nice but to me its just like any other church. From the outside however, its a really great iconic building!

Hallsgrimskirkja is a must-visit in Reykjavik, if only to get that picture-perfect view down the main street and see all the colourful buildings. There's just a small elevator to get to the top and no stairs so be prepared for a bit of a wait. When I went, there was organ music being played in the main church so it was nice to spend a bit of time there appreciating the architecture and atmosphere.

244 feet, the tallest building in Reykjavik is easy to spot especially with its unique architecture. The interior is relatively more humble in size and for 900isk (which is not cheap) at the gift shop, you can get a ticket to take the lift to its top floor where you can have a view of the city below on each side of the church.

The lift only take 6 up or down at anyone time and you're not allowed to use the stairs so do expect to spend some time up there.

Do spend time looking through each side of the church and spot the other outstanding buildings, on one side you can also catch planes taking off from the airport to the south east

It is amazing. I love it. It makes me so happy. It is so beautiful. There is the church room inside because it is a church. Then there is a gift shop, and then is the place to buy your ticket in the gift shop. And then there is the elevator with a ton of floors to visit. I love it and hope that a lot of people put 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful and massive church that looks like an ice castle. Inside there is a stunning organ. Ceilings are very high. Entrance to church is free but visiting the tower does cost money.

Very unique church. Design was very different then most traditional churches. That being said although entering the church is free of charge, it does cost $10 (usd) if you would like to go up to the topnothing spectacular at the top and the windows are very small to the point you can't even capture a decent photopersonally would avoid the tower part of the church.

Lovely church seen located at the highest point of the city. Impressive outdoor and interior, simple but very elegant. It is possible to climb to the top floor for a 360 degree view of the city. This will cost 900 ISK.

Gorgeous place and very powerful inside. Large sweeping concrete building with high ceilings inside. A must for the religious adventurer and a cozy little spot out of the rain for anyone else. Free to enter, although the lift to the top costs around 900-1000k. (8-12$ US.) You don't need to pay to go up though, as you can see the same thing here on google ;) Not worth the trip up if its raining and cloudy, as it usually is, but the church itself is a landmark to be certain, not at all to be missed.

Beautiful views of the city when you take the lift to the tower. Very reasonable for the experience. The organ and fantastic array of pipes is something else! A cultural must whilst you're here.

Great looking building with fabulous views all around from the top. Beautiful inside. 900k adults & 100k to use the list to the top although this seems to be fine on a trust basis as no one checks yours ticket. Really helpful to go up at the start of your trip as it helps you to get your bearings ..

Church with cool design/architecture and amazing views. The outside is concrete and interesting and the inside is modern and minimalistic. The best part is the 360 degree view at the top. When you walk into the church lobby, turn left to buy your tickets in the gift shop. You'll likely wait in a line to ride a six-person elevator to the top. Waiting in the line doesn't take long and it's worth it!
