This place is so important to Iceland's history. This is where Parliament began for them if I read and remember it correctly. It is a ways out there so may be a pass unless you are a history buff. To my, it was worth it. Neat settings, fun to drive by all the sheep to get to the place to be. some horses Icelandic ones as well that is.

Nice beautiful old church in Iceland. The drive in was beautiful and scenic, and included seeing many free roaming sheep and horses. The artifact building was not open when we went, but looked neat. Church looked to be in nice shape for its age. The church has rich history for itself, and its location. Worth stopping at!

One of the nicer older churches in Iceland, although their claim about being the oldest stone church seems up for dispute (see Holar church). Some nice artifacts, and a beautiful location with lots of history. Their exhibition centre is a little cramped with a lot of text, and the entrance fee is comparable to more significant museums. There is a cafe and washrooms.

"Þingeyrarklaustur was the first monastery built in Iceland. It followed the monastic order of Benedicts of Nucia and it‘s role in the literary culture of Iceland is of great importance".
A beautiful church, a few km from the main road. There is a museum next to church. A powerfull view from the hill on the bay with a massive fog going down the evening. Pure and beauty :)

This is such a beautiful church, it is well worth the stop to check it out. There is a lot of bird life in this area as well.
