wonderful service!! we had the tasting menu with a very generous wine pairing. It was a beautiful and delicious combination of typical dishes prepared with local ingredients. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food, unless you are on a budget. Casual and lively place, we really enjoyed it.

Having tried several tasting menus in Iceland, I enjoyed this the most. Service was excellent. Ambience great. The food was well prepared and not overly ambitious on mixing too many ingredients at once. You don't have to guess what the dish is. The ingredients were top notch. The minke whale looked and tasted like red meat. The scallop sashimi is the freshest I ever had. Portions were quite large for tasting menu. Should be a 6-star. Next time in Iceland, this will be a must stop.

Had a nice dinner here. Prices all over Iceland are expensive, these seemed fair. Wonderful atmosphere downstairs, ideal for a cozy date, or business dinner. The Puffin w/ blueberries was delicious and while an appetizer, I enjoyed it as a main course. Would definitely recommend

This was our only real meal in Iceland. Like everything else, it was really pricey. It ran nearly $75/person (without drinks). That being said, the atmosphere was fabulous, the location easily accessible, the food delicious, and the staff incredibly courteous. It was also great that we were able to walk in without a reservation, although, given how busy they were, I wouldn't try this unless a last resort.

Went as a group of 13 including 5 children, youngest of whom was only 7. We were told we could only have the fixed tasting menu and not individual dishes off the menu. There were also 2 vegetarians in the group and all they got were a starter of fried battered vegetables, a salad and a nut roast. Non vegetarian dinner had 5 courses. Steaks cooked rare without choice of medium or well done. After we complained, they took it back and brought them back medium done. The desserts were good though.
The bill was 10900 ICK per person, even for the children and the vegetarians!!! Absolute rip off. Definitely would not recommend going there as a group or if you like vegetarian options or if there are children in the group.

Based on google reviews, we decided to try this place out our first night in Reykjavik. We had the tasting menu which was a great choice but a lot of food (four starters, three main dishes and a dessert). They prepared a wonderful variety of food including shark, cod, Arctic char, beef rib, lamb, duck, horse steak and a giant plate of dessert.

Best dinner I've ever had? Most likely. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and the experience was astonishing. We had the tasting menu, as it was well recommended by other reviewers. Totally worth it.

They started serving dishes very quickly. We couldn't finish one and they brought the next one. To be honest, at that point we thought that maybe they just wanted us out as soon as possible to have a free table. After the first 5 servings they stopped for a while and we though: "Ok, maybe this is it". We were kind of fine with that, it's an expensive fancy restaurant after all. Then the waiter informed us that we just had the last dish indeed. The last dish of the appetizers. We still had 3 main courses left.

The main courses were at the same level. We had during the whole time the feeling that that dinner was something different, that we were tasting something a few levels above the average. After the main courses we were satisfied. Imagine our surprise when the waiter asked us if we were ready for the dessert.

We started wondering what could they bring. Cheesecake? Brownie? There is no special traditional Icelandic dessert so we had no clue. When the waiter came with the dish then we finally understood what is for a restaurant to surpass every expectation. The dessert was
well, it was everything we could think of. There was cheesecake, and brownie, and ice cream, and fruit, and hot caramel and everything was delicious.

It's honestly impossible for me to express how good this restaurant and the experience was. You have to taste it. Just go.

One of the best suppers we have had. We had the "Trip to the countryside" prix fixe menu and loved all the plates. It included the duck salad, pork ribs, mine whale as starters, then a good sized steak with fries and veggies and to finish, a dessert plate like no other! Service was top notch and our waitress was really good, with a happy and bubbly demeanor. The helpers were also great, explaining what each plates was as we got them. I highly recommend this restaurant.

If you want to overindulge during your stay in Reykjavik, this is the place to do it. My friend and I had the tasting menu: 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, & a dessert platter (pictured below). Expensive, but then again worth is subjective. In this case, we both thought it was good value overall based on the service, atmosphere, meal selection, presentation, & portions (there was A LOT of meat, and we noticed the orders around us were pretty big as well. Come hungry.) Would recommend you check them out if you want a fine dining experience, and maybe book a reservation as it gets busy during the weekends.

I really enjoyed my trip to Mexico City. One of the best restaurants near the Aztec ruins. I would love to come back one day and bring my 103 year old grandma. Thanks Mexico for the good food!

Went here last night! Absolutely fantastic restaurant! Friendly service! Delicious food! Beautiful decor! This was by far the best restaurant we visited during our time in Iceland! And one of our "cheaper" evenings! Can't reccomend it enough!

Some interesting choices here, such as Whale steak, Puffin burger and horse meat. However, we went with a pretty standard choice of steak, fries and lamb chops. They were all excellently prepared, and delicious. The service was also great, and value for money was good, considering everything else we had so far on our trip. Definitely recommended!

This restaurant was our favorite in Reykjavik. I ordered the "Fish Gourmet" which was salmon, redfish, and cod. The fish was excellent and very well prepared. On top of that, service was very good and it has a nice atmosphere. Their bread and butter was also incredible and a great start to the meal. We ate here for dinner and then came back for lunch on our last day. Lunch was just as good and cheaper. Great cocktails, too!

Got right in without a reservation by being willing to sit at the bar. We enjoyed the tour of the country fixed meal and even tried the whale. Want to be more adventurous? Try the horse steak or puffin.

Great food, solid service and truly enjoyed watching the kitchen work their magic.

My wife and I ate here for our first year anniversary and we were very happy with our choice! Very nice atmosphere and they put us in a nice quiet spot. All staff members were very friendly and they told us happy anniversary on the way out. On top of that the food was very good. I recommend this place!

Fantastic service, drinks, and meal on our first night in Reykjavik. Although pricey, the ambiance and quality make it extremely worthwhile.

Highly recommend the salmon as a main, and the crab and mink whale as appetizers. Cocktails are also worth a try.

If you plan on seafood, this place is for you. My dining partner had the steak and wasn't thrilled with the quality.

Exceptional restaurant design and ambiance. GREAT for date night and entertaining parents. Not the best for kids or families with young children.
Excellent food, both quality and portion, for the high price point; we had the tasting menu with a bottle of wine.
Compared to other fine dining experiences, the service felt rushed and the dishes were not timed very well.
All things considered it was a good experience and a solid option as long as you have other dining events planned throughout your stay.

Hard to find it but the food changed my life. There was so much flavour in the beef I had in the meat gourmet and the lamb and duck were amazing. The pork ribs actually melted in my mouth. A must go in my words. I am definately coming back here in the future. To summarize it well it was the best meal I have ever had!

This restaurant is a bit on the pricey side (compared to others in Iceland). We ordered 'TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE'. This comes with 3 apps, 1 steak and an assortment of desserts. Coming from North America, I'd say I've had better steaks, but I still enjoyed it. The apps and desert were also tasty. I'd recommend this place to anybody that would like a nice romantic sit down restaurant.

This is a fabulous restaurant, the venue itself is very impressive, with eclectic decor and some very creative use of lighting and natural elements. The staff were welcoming, helpful and extremely professional. The food will leave you wishing you could dine here every day.

This place is very unique. Really good service from the moment we entered until we left. They advised us on vegetarian menu options and for the meat eaters. Drinks (cocktails) and food were amazing. I really enjoyed the garlic potatoes and French fries which had their touch of herbs and spice on top.

The Gvine Gin cocktail with ginger ale was really nice !

My favorite restaurant in Reykjavik! The food was so well prepared by an obviously enthusiastic team of chefs. They are one of the few places that offer a type of "chef table" so you can enjoy the prep/magic. My attempt to interact and ask questions was (I think) welcomed and they happily answered all my questions.
They offer a tasting menu but we opted to pick our own items. For mains we had the cod and whale which were perfect. Their cocktail menu was well put together and while on the sweeter-side still very well presented with great flavors.
Side note, if you appreciate decor don't miss walking downstairs to see the bar and also their industrial-modern bathrooms.

The food was amazing! And the servings are pretty substantial. If you're in a small group, I'd recommend getting a few starters and shared mains.

For four people, we ordered the crispy traditional dry fish & squid, vegetables deep fried in crispy dough and shellfish soup. We asked for an extra serving of bread with this, as the soup is very creamy and thick. The deep fried food is VERY oily though. We were already pretty full after these starters.

For our mains, 3 of us had the grilled salmon (which I highly recommend) and fish & chips. These servings are much bigger than we expected and we weren't able to finish all the food.

It is a bit pricey but for a nice, big, yummy meal at a cosy restaurant with beautiful, rustic decor, I'd say it was pretty good value.

Oh, and I don't know what they do with their butter that they serve with the complimentary bread, but it melts in your mouth like no other

This place is EXPENSIVE, but it's an experience.

We had the sliders and vegetarian peanut steak. I'd skip the peanut steak; it wasn't my favourite. But the sliders were interesting purely because of the type of meats: puffin, whale, and Norwegian lobster. To be honest, I'd prefer a regular beef burger based solely on flavour, but it was an interesting experience nonetheless. The complimentary bread you start with was delicious too.

The table next to us ordered the rack of lamb and tenderloin. All I can say is I wholly regretted our order; their food looked so good.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and dimly lit. It's an upscale Icelandic restaurant that I'd pass on if you don't want to break the bank, but if you're okay with the scary prices, there are some interesting dishes you can try.
