The location is AWESOME. Right on the beach backed up to a big cliff. You eat then can go sightseeing without having to walk far. As far as the food and atmosphere go they are both mediocre. Cafeteria style serving just with $26+ mediocre burgers. If you're from the US remember to tell them to cook your burger WELL DONE! Almost everywhere you go they cook the burgers MEDIUM RARE.

The natural environment outside the restaurant is what gets my five star rating. Hopefully the photos I've included show why. The black sand beach, surfing quality waves, cliffs, and geologic formations justify a visit. The restaurant itself may be a two star. It is cafeteria like with bathrooms that will cost about $2 if you are not a customer.

Maybe a tad unfair, but have to rate it based on my experience. Stopped by just before closing. Was in and out before 1800 with minutes to spare, but the staff seemed more focused on putting things away and cleaning than helping out, and almost unwilling to serve me cake until I confirmed i'd take it as takeaway.

Located in the middle-of nowhere it’s a welcoming break from the elements. Food it ok and prices fair. Not too bad a selection with friendly staff. Clean and quick service. The one thing that lets it down is the loos, slight funky smell and needs cleaning throughout the day.

Staff is unfriendly and Stuff unwelcoming- our group ordered food from here but also had a sandwich packed from home as we had a long tour day with limited access to food. We were told very rudely that we weren’t allowed to eat it there, despite that we also ordered an item from the restaurant. I understand this policy but the manner in which they executed it was very rough and unnecessary.

Iceland is very windy and is called Iceland for a reason. The beach is just very cold and windy so the restaurant is a great place to warm up and drink a cup of hot chocolate. The staff is very friendly and speak English very well. However the food is really expensive, even for Icelandic standards so take that into account.

Great stopping point for your road trip. The food is good, not terribly expensive either, they have a bathroom inside for customers so you don't have to wait in the cold for the outside one. Nice staff too!

During our prep for our Iceland trip, we made it a point to pack various snacks and ingredients to self cater our meals when possible and snack throughout the day as we would rather spend time outside exploring instead of both wasting money at expensive restaurants.

However, on this particular day we had misjudged and we hadn't packed a proper lunch. On the drive from Hvollsvollur to Vik, stopping at multiple locations, we realized just how hungry we were as we approached Reynisfjara and there was nothing else in sight for a meal aside from the N1 which closed at 6pm. It was already near sunset around 7pm.

This restaurant happened to be exactly where we were going and saved the day for us. Not only was the food delicious, but the price was also more reasonable than I was expecting from the reviews. I think it depends what you get. The service was warm. The bathrooms clean. The design of the restaurant superb. We also chose a great time to go have dinner because it was around the time where most people were outside waiting for sunset. We dined from around 715 to 745 and we were off to Reynisfjara to enjoy the amazing sunset. On the walk back we saw the restaurant was packed.

We had the Lamb Soup, and Black Beach Burger that came with fries. Everything was delicious. $38.20

Dishes are simple and not the best value. The lamb fillet was over cooked and the pasta past al dente. Seats by the window were very warm and there were no blinds to block the sun.

Wanted to seek shelter from the rain and wind, grab a coffee, beers and relax for a bit. Like a lot of Iceland this feels like the only choice in the area. So we hoped we'd wait out the storm, but admittedly made a faux pas by bringing a coupke slices bread from our last stop. The owner took no forethought, and asked us to leave before we could order our drinks and sweets. We decided that we'd skip our drinks and take our sale elsewhere. Some understanding from the owner would have resulted in sales, but by her unpleasant hospitality and assuming annoyance, she had already led us to feel unwelcome. She even unnecessarily with attitude said "have a nice a day" several times when we were leaving outside in the parking lot. We came a long way to see her beautiful country of Iceland, and sure got one freezing cold reception here. Next time maybe she'll ask what customers would like to order before asking them to leave?

Great place for a stop. Best lamb ribs I had in a long time. Also good portion sizes. The turnip soup was delicious. Friendly staff and clean toilets. Also high chair and baby cleaning station in spacious wheelchair toilet.

A little more expensive than we wanted, but due to the location I can look beyond that. Not too many choices for dinner, but what we all ordered we loved. It looks like the lunch menu is really good and a little nicer with prices. What a location! The staff were great too. The bathroom was a little messy, but that is because people come in from the brag to use it and don't seem to know how to leave a bathroom in the same condition as they found it. Not disgusting, but not clean clean.
