Completely overrated. Would probably have been better if I hadn't had high expectations from all of the positive reviews and every blog post talking about how amazing Icelandic hot dogs are.
Totally bland, cold, and boring. To be honest, that describes most of the food I've had here. There's no real flavour from the onions or lamb, and the copious amounts of sauce they douse it with are just thick and flavourless.
The only positives are how cheap (relative only to Icelandic prices) they are and how quick the service was.

Top quality dog. I sweat petty details like cost and value so let me sum up the food value like this: get one with everything and you'll eat a solidly good dog. Don't share it, you'll just walk away wishing you'd bought one each.

A delicious one as far as hot dogs go! Only two items on the menu - hot dog 🌭 & soda 🥤. Service is quick. Outdoor seating only (no cover from the rain, though there are a few covered entrances within the vicinity). The sausage has a nice crunch to it (thanks to the sausage wrapping). Filled with crispy onions and ketchup. Topped with mustard and mayo. Won’t be filling as a proper meal, but definitely worth a try if you’re in town!

This place is v popular. Crispy onions were the best part. Hot dog was relatively small but you could buy two for what you would pay for a loaf of bread in Reykjavík so I guess that is a pretty good value.

Good place to stop after you've been drinking. They make em fast they taste pretty good for a hot dog though in the end its a hot dog. Decent price and quick delivery.
Would recommend buying two with all the toppings for maximum satisfaction

This hot dog stand is as traditional as they come in Iceland! I would recommend getting the traditional hot dog with everything: diced onions, fried onions, ketchup, mustard, and remoulade. I asked the man serving the hot dogs how many he makes per day and he stated that it was close to 2,000! Don't let the long line scare you away, it moves quickly.

Quite a popular place in the city.

It's also one of the few places where you can get a bite after 10pm.

Sometimes there is some line but it's usually served pretty fast (it's not that complicated in the end).

Great tasting hot dog made with lamb, pork and beef. Had the works - onions provided nice crunch but the mayo like sauce was a tad sweet for my taste, brown sauce was tasty. There was quite a line when we went as a tour bus had just unloaded but the line moved very fast.

The popular hot dog stand is definitely worth visiting and trying once. The hot dog itself is novelty; it ingredients include lamb. The toppings and special sauce combo made it tasty and makes it one of the best value in terms of in Iceland - albeit probably one of the most expensive hot dogs you will have.

It is definitely a tourist spot with the queues being long, though it moves quick. They are also open during Christmas day! (which is when we went and was still super busy). Kudos to the hard working locals and the Bill Clinton portrait hanging there proudly in all it's glory.

The stand was right outside our hotel so we stopped to have lunch here. There was no line at the time (around 11:30am on a Saturday). Great hot dogs. Would recommend getting all the toppings (the crunchy onions made it extra good when we went back for seconds). They also stay open almost all day so a great place to stop after a late night out as well.

Great taste, great price This is an adorable hot dog stand. The hot dog with everything has a special sauce on it that is unique and really good and the hot dog itself is part lamb. I really enjoyed it.

Lives up to the hype. Probably not the best hot dog on the world, but it's very very good and an absolute bargain. If you want a cheap lunch, have this and then walk 5 minutes up the road to the famous bakery with the amazing cinnamon rolls. A delicious lunch of pylsur and cinnamon rolls all for under 1000 kr. The perfect lunch. Delicious and cheap

It's good for a hot dog. The toppings and condiments were kind of unique but it's definitely good value and a good place to get a cheap meal. The queue can be quite long and it is definitely a tourist spot.

I'm going to be honest. I'm American and hate American hotdogs. BUT I tried a bite of my partners and fell in love. It was so good. It's amazing how good something can taste when it's not made from a million animal scrap's. Around lunch time the line was very long. But I stopped by around 7 and it was much more manageable. I can't wait to eat it again.

Also. Get it with everything. There fried onions add a nice crunch.

Must have the fried onions. They are similiar in texture to matchstick potatoes chips yet taste like a fried blooming onion from Chillis. The only thing that would make this better, in my opinion would be fresh sour kraut. To add, the mustard is a sweet tangy addition that I have never tried before similiar to Dijon with a sweet kick. A must fry treat if visiting the area.

I like the sausage a lot since it seems the made from lamb meet. It is a great snack that Icelanders, foreigners and cheeky birds enjoy alike. A well prepared classic in the Icelandic street food culture for a reasonable price.

Hotdogs were alright but the hype behind them is what we didn't understand. It's not something we thought to go all the way out of your way for. But if you are there and the queues are not too bad, give them a go. They are no where as big as what the locals make them out to be - particularly when you have experienced American and other European city hotdogs. Taste wise they were still yummy.

Although this place doesn't cater for vegetarians, I wasn't sure at the time and asked the nice man anyway whether there was an option. He informed me that they don't do a veggie dog, but they can make a veggie option by simply not adding the dog. He said the condiments, etc. with the bun are just as delicious and would be half the price, and he was serious about it. I agreed to try and he ended up not charging me which was really lovely of him. It sounds ridiculous having a hotdogless hotdog, but It was delicious and I felt a sense of inclusiveness :).

Simple hotdog buns, not worth waiting if the queues are long and they ain't super cheap either. Maybe the only outstanding ingredients was the crisply fried onion that added bite to the bun.

Quick service, friendly staff. The stars here are strictly about the dog itself. To be fair, it wasn't 2am and we weren't drunk. It is simply an average tasting boiled Oscar Meyer type wiener. For those Americans out there, this dog is nothing compared to the deliciousness of the Costco polish dog with the works. Mmmm going straight to Costco when I get home. If you actually want the best dog in the world, get a Seattle Dog at 1am in Capitol Hill. Reykjavik is amazing though!

When the line is long you know it is good! I got two of these famous hot dogs and they were fantastic! Worth the wait! Comes with onions, dried onions, ketchup, and mustard. I highly recommend checking this spot out!

A great local hot dog place. I highly recommend the fully loaded dog as it seems wrong to do anything else. It is very fresh, and the lamb in the hot dog is a unique experience. It is one of the few affordable places to eat in Iceland. It is a shame they are doing construction nearby. The tables have built in hot dog holders which is a great touch. I'd be careful taking families there late at night as it seems to be popular with the locals after the bars close.

It was a hotdog yes, but not exactly life changing. I didn't eat any other hot dogs in Iceland so I don't know if it is by far the best but I wasn't amazed. However the service is prompt and lovely. And they accept payment by card. Also it's cheap so that's a bonus.

Rating is all about the hot dog. My first Icelandic dog - which is a couple strange colored sauces (off white and dirty yellow) with some fresh onions and then crunchy bits (fried onion?).

Either way, really good!! The menu has two options: hot dog and soda.

Dining experience is eating outside either standing next to a high top table or sitting at one of a couple picnic tables.

Part of the experience. Gotta try it. Ranks up there with coneys (Cincinnati) and Chicago dogs. I'll be back for more!!!

It's not in the most obvious place, and easy to miss, but usually you can look for the line up and spot it that way. Delicious hot dogs! After walking around all day, or drinking a few beers, great, cheap food to eat. Nothing like an awesome hot dog at the end of the day. Or again at midnight!

After a long walk around the city of Reykjavik looking for this place I was expecting the best hot dog ever! However, this was not to be. Although it was very cheap in comparison to other food available in the city and quite tasty it still left me with a feeling of expecting more. The portion was small and I'd say it's more suitable for kids more than anything else.

Finding this place is like looking for Waldo. It was right in front of us the whole time. We must have driven by it a half dozen times during our stay and didn't realize it. When we finally found it, we had to struggle to find parking. It wasn't very crowded but there's a lot other buildings in the area and parking is limiting.

Anyway, the hot dogs were great!They were everything I expected and more. They were huge and delicious. I opted to get one with all of the fixings and another one without the mayonnaise-like sauce on it and I was a happy camper. This was the only meal that didn't feel like a robbery at about $8. It was worth every penny. I don't know what the little crunchy things are that they put on the hot dogs but they are heavenly. I think they're the equivalent to French's fried onions. Whatever they are, they brought a little tear to my eye! So good!!
