If you are not able to see the northern lights, this is a good option. 1 hour is enough as is a small place.

Neat little museum. There isnt much inside, some posters and overall facts about auroras. I think the best part of it is dark room with wide screen showing time-lapse of various auroras from across entire Iceland. Also at the end you get to see World map with hundreds of pins representing people who visited this place from different parts of the world.

Excellent presentation and cinema type video of the Northern Lights, run by young, helpful enthusiastic staff, who pointed out the excellent VR headset experience.
Particularly great as we didn't catch the real aurora ourselves, due to cloud.

Interesting place to see some beautiful footage of the Northern Lights. They have a store which sells all sorts of related goods. I believe you can also book a lights tour with them. They serve complimentary hot chocolate and coffee which is nice. Don't think you'd spend more than an hour there.

It's nice. I liked their stories from around the world very much, and it was quite informative but there's only so much to learn about the Aurora.
It's difficult to build a museum based upon one single natural phenomenon, that isn't so complicated. Hard to elaborate on that.
I believe that overall it's worth a visit as the views they give, including the VR are nice, the postcards at the shop are great and it did look like they spent some time and effort putting this museum together but it's not a must see.

If you want to book a northern light tour this is the place to go. The staff is super nice and the exhibition is interesting too.

Not worth paying for this. If you were to book tours from here then you will get free ticket.. Then it's worth it. Don't pay for this you will be disappointed.

Very expensive (12€). I expected more. I don't recommend it, there are just posters in which aurora is explained.

A visit before going out to see the nothern lights is really helpfull. Good tips how to catch the lights by camera.

Spent an hour or so here, nice to wander around on a rainy day. Appears to have opened recently and hopefully will be developed further. Nice lounge to sit and have free hot drink before leaving.

Could've given this a miss--most helpful was the online map at the end detailing at which time & day the aurora is most easily sighted that week.

It's more fun for the kids & we didn't have anyone under the age of 24 in my group. The virtual reality is fun though--you feel surrounded by the lights! And when else are you going to go to an aurora borealis museum right?

Cosy and warm !! This is what is mentioned on the poster on the window of this museum and it's true ! The museum is little but he explains the basics of the formation of Aurora Borealis. This is also an ideal point to have a break and take a Kaffi after the visit. I recommend especially the experience of the augmented reality glasses at the shop ! the reception is welcoming.

It was a pretty poor quality museum. This was our best bet to seeing the actual Northern Lights but it was a pretty poor show. I wouldn't bother.

Would have given it 4 stars as was a good (though small) exhibition. But very expensive for somewhere where you could only spend an hour maximum at. Did have a nice shop coffee area to relax in though.

Great information! If it wasn't for Taylor we would have missed the Northern Lights in Reykjavik on 27March17. Camera rentals available for approximately $45USD (2017)and instructions on capturing lights.

This is the place to learn everything about the Northern Lights. During IcelandAirwaves the venue hosts different performers playing with a beautiful video of the Aurora Borealis as the background. You must see this place especially if you visit Iceland when the Aurora Borealis is off-season.

Very small museum, they have an interesting short video but you can find all the information online these days, nothing in it that was really surprising or really well presented.

Great for understanding about the Aurora and seeing what it looks like. Staff are also friendly and willing to answer queries. There is also free tea/coffee.
