Big variety of carpets up to 500 years old, with a great history explained by a guide provided by the museum. The work done on some of these carpets is mind blowing and unimaginable.

On the northern side of Laleh Park and Fatemi Street, Tehran has a white-painted building. The building that has been quiet and unobtrusive since the year 1978 of the treasure trove in the heart. And it's still alive. Perhaps you will not believe that this magnificent building is one of the most beautiful and most prestigious museums in the world. When you look at this beautiful building and look at its white appearance, from the carpet-shaped facade ornaments, you will fully understand what kind of treasure we are waiting for in the building.
This 3400 square meter building consists of two halls, which are used to display a variety of handmade and gilt carpets. Ground floor hall is usually used to display 150 carpet rugs of Persian carpet and carpet masterpieces, commonly owned by important carpet weaving centers of Iran such as Kashan and Kerman, Isfahan and Tabriz, and the first floor hall is usually used for casual and seasonal exhibitions.
The collection of Persian carpet museum is one of the most valuable carpet samples from nineteenth century to contemporary period and is considered as a rich source of research for researchers and art of friends. In the Carpet Museum, various types of flimsy and hand-woven carpets, according to their quality and their age, and considering the Iranian carpet features, are preserved in terms of staining, design, role, texture and variety of carpet weaving.

An amazing collection of Persian rugs from different historical periods and different areas of Iran. Also sometimes, an exhibition is held outside the museum in which carpet merchants gather around and present carpets from all over Iran.

I've visited this museum recently, I agree with most of the reviews, the museum suffers from proper lightening and english description of carpets is really disappointing. Nevertheless it presents a beautiful collection of Iranian carpts, specially Kerman carpets are marvelous.

It's such a wonderful museum but sadly the carpets descriptions are only in Persian language (Farsi) and there's only a brief description in English. I really enjoyed watching "Boostan" Carpet having a 3D pattern and it was really interesting to me. There was another carpet that really amazed me. It depicts 160 of the most famous people in the world including Persian and European kingsA carpet full of stories!
