Very old Irish bar with the basics for a great night, food is kept to a minimum like soup or sandwiches but the drink is plentiful. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Fresh faces from around the world and live music a lot of nights. Check it out
Old school Dublin pub to the front, with massive modernised covered smoking area to the rear. Good pint of Guinness and can get pretty busy
We had the upstairs booked for friends and family of 4 people who graduated that day and it was a great venue for drinks and nibbles. The girl behind the upstairs bar was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire night. Will be coming back here again!
It was great to be back in this old, Victorian Dublin pub again. Great to see that it hasn't changed, been done over, modernised ( TV apart). There is a new beer garden out the back which increases the capacity, and there are new lavatories ( tastefully modern, in the case of the gents, with rusted corrugated iron sheets dividing the cubicles.
But to the important stuff: the pint of Guinness was the expected top class product. ( Pints of Guinness can vary: Toners has always been a great "Pint of Guinness" house.) The cheese sandwich with mustard ( I dine simply, traditional style) also hit the spot. I can't wait till I am next back in Dublin, for my next pint in Toners, a fine old establishment.
We recently booked a private function room upstairs here for a family party. The staff and management couldn't have been more helpful, from allowing access to decorate the room, to helping us estimate the number of (delicious ) food platters we needed for the numbers we had. The room has a sound system into which you can plug your music (laptop, phone, music player etc). Decent selection of drinks in the private bar.
Toners is one of those rare Dublin pubs which has managed to maintain it's old school charm while providing a great 21st century service. Highly recommended.
A really rare but tasty cliche in the mix of south Dublin city. Paining to be the writer's bar it espouses on the walls, it pours a luxurious pint of cream for only €5.20 which isn't' bad at all given the area. Snapy smoking garden and a staff that never make you feel unwelcome. Great for drowning ones sorrows in isolation or with a friend.
Great for rugby and screens. Real contrast between old and new. Nice for quiet pint of the black stuff
Irish Pub with local people. Fresh beer pint and cider. It worth a visit
Great food and large and cosy smoking area! Highly recommended for a after work drink!
Was here with a friend to have dinner with and we were absolutely stunned! Service was real nice and authentic, food was fantastic (great steaks, great everything) and the dessert was just superb.
My recommendation: do not order to many sides! Rather try one of their tasty desserts.
Good spot but small and very busy standing room only a lot of time? They have an outdoor bit "toners yard" but it is just that a yard..
Great traditional pub. Great pours and good environment. Was a decent crowd after work hours and the vibe was fun. Would come back!
One of Dublin's best pubs not sure of the recent renovations. The new toilets and yard are a good expansion of the very quaint and authentic pub. I do miss the smelly old gents though. They always reminded me of the loss of Murphy's ashes into the trough at the end of Samuel Beckett book of the same name. A grand place to dispose of your best friends remains.by accident of course
