Beautiful selection. I'm not a knitter but wanted to buy some Irish yarn for my best friend who is. The shop keeper took time to show me a variety of yarns and Irish wool. Lovely! Thank you!

Real Wool Lovers
Wanted to see this store since l found it online while looking for knitting patterns. Wonderful place. Beautiful real 100%wool..like Donegal and brillant selection of colours.
I am looking forward to The Woolin next May. Heard about this also online so was nice to talk to a person about it.
Will be watching out for Tickets.
Didn't buy wool on my visit this time but delighted to know where l can buy pure wool for future projects.

Fabulous yarn shop in city centre. Friendly and welcoming staff, and good range of yarn to suit all budgets. Particularly special: Townhouse Yarns, dyed in house. Always on my agenda when visiting Dublin: never disappoints.

Very nice yarn shop, quite big range of hand dyed yarn. They have West Knit Best Knits, that was amazing:) The yarn is quite expensive.

Friendly staff and great selection of yarn (5/5 green stars also)
I dropped into This Is Knit’s attractive store in the Powerscourt Centre to buy some Hedgehog Fibers yarn for a friend. Hedgehog Fibers don’t have a retail outlet in Cork, and even though their yarn can be found in almost 200 places worldwide, it looks like This Is Knit is their sole outlet in Ireland. The lady who helped me was very friendly and didn’t just assume that I was lost or wandering aimlessly (as some do, when they see me in a yarn store). In fact she had three skeins available and unraveled all three so that I could pick two that matched most closely. The prices were reasonable, especially considering that rent in the Powerscourt Centre can’t be cheap – it worked out about the same as ordering directly from Hedgehog and paying for shipping.

I’m giving them 5/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact. Of course, knitting your own clothes can be a great way to avoid some of the issues associated with the clothing industry. But it’s also good to know something about the impact of the yarn that you’re using. This Is Knit supply some of the world’s most well-regarded yarns, and also some of the most responsible. For example, Hedgehog Fibers in Cork are very open about their policies – they are opposed to the practice of mulesing and only work with our South American suppliers where mulesing is not practiced and working conditions are not exploitative. They use non-toxic acid dyes and food-grade citric acid as setting agent, which is naturally found in food and water and readily biodegrades in the environment. They ensure it they dye is all fully committed to the yarn before moving to the next step, so no dye goes to disposal. They are also into waste-minimization and recycling and also contribute to Cork DAWG, their local dog shelter. Another great example is Manos del Uruguay, a non-profit cooperative association (and member of the World Fair Trade Organization) whose objective is to generate work for rural women. You can find these, along with other great handmade yarns (like NORO) at This Is Knit. They also run knitting classes and in May will have workshops on writing and blogging by Kate O’Sullivan (A Playful Day blog).

Amazing little shop. The most kind, helpful and friendly staff. The lovely lady took her time to explain everything I needed to know and helped me choose all equipment to do a project i wanted. Plenty of quality product to choose from. Best experience. If you're looking for a yarn shop, you found the best. Great location as well :-)

They sell cotton yarn, not just wool and the staff is nice and helpful. The shop is located in a small shopping center and this is the cutest I ever have seen. :)
