Since it’s been taken back by the original owners the food is fabulous, fine dining standards at all times of the day, not expensive either.

Absolutely fabulous servicethe staff are so attentive and make you feel like nothing is too much trouble (even with two very active children in tow). The breakfast was perfect and the dinner was the best meal I have had in a long time They have managed to achieve a fine dining experience while still giving a country hotel hospitality vibe. We were fortunate to chat to the owners who made us feel as though we were old friends and not new acquaintances. This hotel is a credit to both of them. Will definitely be back.

Staying in Borris for a wedding and other guests had recommended to eat here. Although a little pricey, given the exchange rate, the food was lovely! The lamb was amazing and all the food was lovingly presented. Would definitely recommend.

We had a very nice late lunch in the Pub of Step House Hotel in Borris, County Carlow, last June 2017, during our latest visit to Ireland. The seafood chowder as starter was delicious. My wife & I shared a portion & it was served in 2 separate warm bowls. It was more than enough for 1 person as a starter. We had sirloin steak as main meal with boiled broccoli & double deep fried potatoe chips for me with a glass of cabernet sauvignon was excellent. There is a good list of desserts to choose from with a cup of coffee to enjoy in the pub or in the garden beside the restaurant. Reasonable price and highly recommendable.
