Beautiful food, great service and a lovely place to stay

Im am leaving my first review on Google business to call attention - not to the Stella Maris Hotel - but to the completely dishonest review that was posted by a Jessica Brady earlier today ( Oct 21st ). I can not dispute how she found her cheese plate ( I didn't see it ) but I can absolutly challenge her lies about how the bar tender handled the situation as I was sitting at the bar watching a football match as she brought her gripe to his attention. I am paraphrasing but his response was something along the line of, " Oh, I'm very sorry about that, I'll make sure to make a note of it to the owner and i will remove it from your bill.". Jessica Brady continued to express how difficult the whole cheese board experience was for her and the bartender continued to apologise. When the match i was watching ended, I exited through the front door to see the same bartender ( 15 mins after the complaint ) still kowtowing to this woman at her table. What she has written in her review is quite simply dishonest. Shame on your "offering" Jessica Brady.

We had an unnecessarily unpleasant experience here today. Long story short: I ordered a cheese-board which, at €8.50 was in my opinion slightly pricey. . When it arrived, it looked tired and disappointing in its presentation, carelessly assembled and included a small bunch of grapes which had bits cut out of them I will post a photo if I can work out how to do it. I am a great supporter of local enterprise wherever I go but this offering was under par so I asked to speak to the manager. The farce that followed was straight out of Fawlty Towers (but without the humour). The young (ish) man took offence at my (politely-worded) complaint and became more defensive and unprofessional by the second.
Suffice it to say that we, a extremely well-travelled couple of Irish food lovers will not be back. Note to the owner, who was not in the building: please teach your staff to accept complaints without resorting to defensiveness!response / report this review -

Food was wonderful. Seafood incredibly fresh. Waitress attention to detail and friendliness second to none.

Amazing service, very cheap for a twin room even in the height of summer. Breakfast was free with the room but made to order (not just buffet style). The bar is great with good lunch / dinner and billiards table for entertainment. Very close to the beach and other establishments in the area.

I love this place! I have to admit, the room I had was pretty basic(Room #1) and right over the downstairs toilets which has music playing and which was clearly heard from the room. But they switched it off early when I said it was disturbing. Apart from that. .everything was great. The room was really clean and the staff were fantastic really. The bar downstairs is a regular for many of the local people, a real friendly bunch. Which really made it a pretty interesting place to be. I loved the atmosphere! And the food was just spot on. As for the town and the surrounding area. .just stunning! The views along the coastal walks were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend a visit to this town!

This is a very pleasant family run hotel, I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent. If you're looking to stay in Kilkee then look no further!
