We went on the tour about a week ago. We were very disappointed in the tour. We were expecting to wild life. As it turned out, we saw one white tailed eagle, a gannet, an oyster bird and when we got to the seals, which was supposed to be a highlight of the tour, there were about 4 adults and a couple of young seals, all of which seemed to be doing nothing but sleeping. We stayed there far too long, with relatively boring commentary from the Captain, who seemed to be on a quest to get the government to do more for protection of the seals. It was too long, and became quite boring. We would have been satisfied if the tour had been much shorter, with less verbiage about the government and the lack of consideration of the plight of the seals. Quite frankly, we saw more seals at closer range on a trip to Garnish Island in Glangariff in County Cork. We would not recommend this tour to other travellers.

We took this trip as a family and all enjoyed the experience. Like others we think the safety briefing was the best we have ever received and Ray is certainly knowledgeable about the environment and the local area. It only drops a point for the very late departure. We particularly enjoyed seeing the seals and Gannets diving.

We just went to the pier, saw signs for the Seafari but no times on them, some signs on the floor. So in the end we did not take the tour as it looked a bit deserted. I am sure it would have been great but no one was around.

A relaxing cruise awaits, and the sight of loveable seals awaits you. The cruise goes way up the Kenmare River; but remember, the Kenmare River is the name of the long inlet bay that leads out to the Atlantic!

If you love nature and having fun, this is the best place you can go in Kerry. It's not just the opportunity to watch seals in their most natural behavour, but the entertainment on board this ship. Furthermore, Captain Ray loves to tell the story of the places you can see and also describes wild life diversity and their lifestyle. It's worth it going even more than once!

Try it! It's not hyper-spectacular, thrilling, breathtaking but authentic, real, intense. If you want to experience Kenmare bay from the seaside, see the wildlife and especially seals in their natural environment, treated with respect, if you want to listen to a captain who lives for what he's talking about, give it a try. Good for kids, too.
