Fantastic old house with an incredible amount of history and beautiful love story attached to it. Absolutely amazing gardens! A must see while travelling through county Galway.
You can also get a bite to eat and a coffee at either one of the two cafes located inside the grounds.response / report this review -

I really love it. We booked the ticket online. With ticket worth €11.70 pp you can visit the Abbey, beautiful big garden and the church. And it worth every penny you spent. The Abbey is gorgeous, garden is amazing and you can go by shuttle bus Abbey to Garden if you don't want to walk. It is a must see if you visit Connemara.

A beautiful place to while away a day. All your needs catered for on site, lovely restaurant where you can have coffee, lunch, dinner. Beautiful walks, the church is amazing and the Victorian walled garden is fabulous. Set a day aside for this visit, well worth the money.

Top attraction. Beautiful grounds to be explored, including Abbey, Chapel and Victorian Gardens. Wonderful views from each corner. Free bus shuttle connecting Kylemore Abbey to the gardens. Can get very busy, so an early start or a visit in the afternoon advised to avoid the crowds. Worth an entire day. Cafeteria styled restaurant service offers tasty meals, large gift shop also.

Beautiful house with gorgeous gardens! And the lake, the mountains, everything! It was utterly beautiful, even on a cloudy day. The house is only partially accessible to visitors, since it's still in use. They've restored some of the rooms to their former glory in terms of decorations, furniture etc, which was nice to see. There's a shuttle bus fron the castle to the gardens, which would otherwise take you about 15 minutes to walk. I really enjoyed the walk, but for people with limited mobility, this is excellent. Unfortunately there's no good public transport connection to the estate, so either go by car, or join a bus tour that stops at the abbey. A 2 hour visit, as was ours, is possible, but you could easily spend more time here.

Save by purchasing your tickets online ahead of time. Wear comfortable shoes (that are appropriate for walking in puddles), a poncho and an umbrella. Visit the abbey and watch a (free) brief video for interesting history on the abbey and grounds. Walk to the chapel and mausoleum. Take the shuttle bus to the Victorian Garden and enjoy the beautiful garden scenery. Picturesque. Worth the drive. We were there in July 2016.

Kylemore Abbey admission was pretty expensive (I think it was around $13-15 Euro per adult). However, there is a lot to see and do, and it's worth it if you have the time to check it all out.
There is a free shuttle to take you to the gardens, which are gorgeous. They are not too expansive (for instance, if you've gone to or plan to go to the Mount Congreve Gardens in Waterford, THOSE are expansive.holy buckets!), and most parts of are super well-maintained and gorgeous. We took the shuttle out to the gardens and walked the route back to the Abbey; it took only about 15 minutes. It was a really nice walk/lots to see that you miss on the shuttle.
From there, we toured the inside of the Abbey. You can't see everything, but you get a good taste of what the house was like "back in the day." The history behind it is very interesting, too.
After that, we walked to the gorgeous chapel, mausoleum, and finally made a wish (as instructed in the brochure!) at the ironing stone/giant's hand.
Again, there is a lot to see, and it's a very gorgeous place. I was disappointed that the abbey itself had a ton of scaffolding--as of early July 2017, they are still working on renovations--but oh well. Still a beautiful area worth seeing.response / report this review -

Beautiful abbey and small church. Quite busy with tourists so picture opportunities without folks walking through are challenging. Inside the abbey, there are only a few rooms to view. They did a good job of depicting the residence as it was during the mid-century. The church on the grounds was a highlight and worth the short walk down the path east of the abbey.

It was raining when we went but it really didn't matter. The scenery is stunning and the gardens and Gothic style Abbey and Church are beautiful. The food is a bit pricey and the customer service could have been better. A little smile perhaps. Would have loved to of the Abbey. Only one floor open. They did have a guided tour of the four rooms available to view but we chose to walk around ourselves.

The best photo of the place can be taken from outside the gates. It's the same view you have on all the touristy postcards. So there's no real need to pay entry into the grounds. That's my secret top tourist tip.

The most picturesque landscape you can get! We went on a rainy, cold day. Hiked out to the cathedral and saw the couple waterfalls along the way. Abbey was nice but wish there were more rooms to tour. We did not go to garden due to the weather. Nice cafeteria with good food. Drive to and from is unbelievably beautiful.
