The views are beyond breathtaking. Impossible to take a bad picture here. You could spend all day here just taking in the view and perhaps have a picnic.

The midges were an unavoidable inconvenience, likewise the rude and exceedingly unreasonable boat taxi operators from 'blasket ferry and tours' in Dunquin. The island has great potential but I'd advise enjoying the views from the mainland coastal routes.

Brilliant experience! Blasket Island Ferries run every day from Dunquin,weather permitting, and offer hourly trips to the Blasket Island. A nice quick crossing on the 48 passenger boat of just 20 minutes brings you to one of my favourite spots on earth! Great day out, friendly and professional crew!

The little lobster boat that carried 20 keen tourists over to Great Blasket Island, had all of us buxom with lifejackets with nowhere much to sit for all the spare ones tied to the benches for the hop skip and a jump over each wild Atlantic wave back to the mainland. The Skipper recited the safety notice for the crossing by saying, with all the actions, that should there be any excitement on the way, we would find a life jacket under our seat, and there was a life boat for every passenger. We were laughing all the three miles back despite the buffeting, and felt safe all the while.
