Would absolutely recommend this as a stop on the ring of Kerry, if only for the views. The view of the beach alone is worth a stop. Do not miss the film downstairs if you choose to visit the Daniel O'Connell museum portion of the site for 5 euro. The ticket takers at the entrance were extremely friendly and willing to show us around since it wasn't too busy. The gardens were large and pleasant for a stroll to stretch the legs a bit. We were there in the off-season (late September) and there were only a handful of people there-- some locals at the cafe as well.
Well worth the trip! The gardens were lovely, the beach beautiful and we learned a great deal about historical facts that we were unaware of before. We would visit again.
Absolutely amazing scenery. Beautiful long beach. Perfect for kids, picnics. Lovely gardens. I will definitely be revisiting Derrynane House
Beautiful, stunning gardens with south American plants. The building and whole area is perfect for walks and family picnic on the beach. Love it! I was really sorry I didn't have more time to spend there.
Great telling of the history of Daniel O'Connell, someone who I did not know enough about and was very happy to learn about what a key figure he was in Irish history.
The house and grounds are very well maintained but there isn't a whole lot there so I wouldn't call it a must see or go out of my way to check it out. Though there was a guide there named Tony who was the best we've had on this trip thus far.
Beautiful house and gardens. Relaxed atmosphere. Sit outside and enjoy coffee and cake, then take a walk through garden or back along the beach.
Cute coffee cups, good walk in the gardens, pretty beaches
Historic home of Daniel O'Connell, the Liberator of Ireland. Nice gardens, and nearby beach. Just beware of dangerous currents.
Sub Tropical Gardens are a must visit. For nature and wildlife lovers, visit the Derrynane Seashore Nature Trail. Derrynane Beach is one of the most beautiful in Ireland and well worth the 5 minute walk from the house. If history is your thing then a visit to the house to see where Daniel O'Connell lived is essential.
Beautiful location beside the stunning Derrynane beach. There is a lovely little woodland walk at the house, great for kids who can search for the fairy houses!
