My husband and I had the early bird dinner. The smoked chicken salad was great and the filo pastry goat cheese was fantastic. For our mains we had the beef stew and mussels. Both were excellent. The portion of mussels was especially generous. Great wine selection and friendly attentive staff. I highly recommend visiting!

Lovely French restaurant, staff is super nice, I always go for the bavette and the blue cheese sauce there but they have a great menu for anything you like. A little piece of France near the Dublin castle where you'll forget you're in Ireland for a moment, except maybe if you eat on their terrace ;)

We've been going to Chez Max for many years. We were very disappointed with the renovations. Very ugly ceiling lights, very unnecessary. The lovely old romantic feel is gone. We were lead to the outside back room despite the main part being only half full. It smelt of cat and we moved inside. My wife missed the friendly male staff. Our waitress twice asked us if we were finished despite food still on our plates and busy hour was past. Not going back. Very sad.

This is a very french place. The service was very friendly but slow. It took me well over an hour to go through 1 starter and 1 main alone. I waited for the starter to come in for over 20 minutes. Not nice when you are hungry. Wine selection and the menu were great. I did not like my starter that was the bread, ham, cheese board. It was too greasy. I had the boil for dinner. It was tasty and a big portion. Only big problem was that it was so hot that I burned my mouth and had to wait forever it to cool down. It is not likely that I will visit this place again as there better restaurants near by but I wouldn't mind if I had to.

Love it! Theirs is the best meat & cheese board we've found in Dublin. The service is always good (although the last visit, the staff was a bit less pleasant) and most importantly the food was delish. The atmosphere here is laid back but also great for a lil romantic date. It's one of my faves!

Solely ranked on dessert and service. Found while waking around town one night with family from out of town and we decided we wanted some dessert. The location and decor was so cute. We sat outside and our server was so nice and suggested some great items. I had a glass of port and crème brulé and I haven't stopped thinking about how good they were since! Can't wait to go back, maybe try some dinner too this time!

Chez Max has been on my list for years, and I finally made it last night although only for some wine. The selection of wines were fantastic and the selection on the early bird was decent.
I chose the French onion soup to start and then had the mussels as my main course. The food was delicious and cost only 19 euro!

Very nice dinning area up in the trace. Steaks are great, but expected more sides for the price of it. Not lots of options for staters. Service was OK. Didn't order any starter so we had nothing until the main course was ready. We were very glad that the chef prepared a nice meal for the kids although they don't have kids menu.

I had dinner here with a friend, we chose to be seated in the outdoor terrace, where my companion could smoke cigars. We had a lovely meal, and got the bill. We paid in cash. The waiter went off, and came back a few minutes later. He declared that the bill was missing €10. We paid another €10 that we knew was not missing, and was going to be his self awarded tip.There is no comeback when you are paying cash. That's why you should always pay by card.they can't lie. Won't be going back here in a hurry!

Definitely the best restaurant in Dublin we've visited. The spot is perfect, just a short walk from the Dublin Castle and that's why the prices are so high. Fond is delicious and the waiters are native Frenchmen/Frenchwomen

Was really good. Pricey-ish due to the touristy location, but really good quality French cuisine. They even import hot French waiters!
