I would not recommend the breakfast that serves rotten tomatoes & egg shells in the scrambled eggs.
The gym is pretty decent with an excellent view. What turned me off is the fact that there was no fridge in the room & the swimming pool is more of a public pool . Not one of the best options in Kerry, also you can't expect much even if you've booked a decent accommodation in Ireland, the service always lacks lustre with the county folks .

Luxury accommodation at great value
This time we stayed at the woodland cottages as opposed to the golf lodges which we stayed at last year.
To be honest, accommodation wise there's very little difference between the two. You're paying the extra for a beautiful view over the golf course, lake and mountain plus the resident deer nearby.
Free access to the swimming pool to keep the kids entertained. We dined in the restaurant which offers a 3 meal deal for €25 for residents which is great value as the food is excellent (apparently the Castlerosse has a great reputation amongst the locals for great food hence why it's necessary to book in advance).
If I had to criticise it, the lighting budget must be tight as the self-catering lighting is somewhat dim in both types of accommodation.

Our Wedding Day: We worked closely with the management at the Castlerosse Hotel from our first visit in October 2016 until our wedding day on 19th August 2017. The venue's quiet setting and views of Killarney's lake and mountains is unrivalled. Mark and Michael were very helpful throughout our preparations and on the day itself, always available to answer any queries we had, and accommodating with any additional requests. Our welcome drinks and reception ran smoothly throughout. The food was excellent, plenty of everything, very tasty and exactly as we had requested following our tasting in June. Over half our 130 guests had travelled from London, New York and South America, and these guests in particular were blown away at the exceptional quality of the venue and everything provided for by the Castlerosse over the weekend.

Hotel restaurant does not have an A La Carte menu. In fact the waiter nor supervisor did not seem to know what one was. They have a flat rate,3 course menu only, however, you can order just the main course for 18.50 Euros instead of the €32 price tag for the 3 course meal.
Tipask at reception for restaurant discount vouchers if you must eat at this restaurant . It will bring your bill down to €22 pp.Other than that, I found the wait service poor and the food very average. I've had much nicer bar food.
The hotel is ok although a little dated and in need of a 21st century makeover.OK for a 1 or 2 night stay. The golf course is great , with awesome views overlooking Lough Leane and Carrauntoohil.
Overall, the only major disappointment was the restaurant .

The free wifi is so slow its pretty much nonexistent, dont expect to be able to load a webpage without losing connection a few times. The rooms are all lined up in a single corridor so whenever someone walks by they wake you up, and the walls are so thin that you constantly hear doors slamming

Not bad but needs renovating. The decor and rooms are a bit shabby. The gym is very poor (oldest treadmills I've ever seen!). The breakfast, however, was quite good. Can't say I'd go back, though.

Family friendly hotel. Pool changing rooms could do with updating. The beds aren't the most comfortable.
Although we were assured that they catered for Ceoliac it was a bit of a challenge and a constant reminder to the waiting staff for every food item was needed :(

Very nice hotel with great food at the restaurant and bar both. Adjacent to a gorgeous park with many walking and bike riding trails. Staff will make arrangements for tennis, golf, and bike riding.
