Can get some nice views from the top. Worth checking out if you have some spare time.
Fascinating history and really well told. The 360 degree room is worth checking out and easy to miss. Make sure you don't.

Superb transformation of a historic building into a good visitors centre for Athlone town. Well worth a visit. Engage the staff in conversation.

Nice development of the castle, very helpful visitor staff, tea/coffee sold here. Great insight into the history of Athlone. Young kids catered for here too with games and dress up.

We stopped here for our drive from Dublin to Westport. Great place to get out and stretch the legs. Lots of interesting history and there are many good places to grab a bite around it too.

Lovely modern gallery with lots of info on the history of Athlone. Our visit was slightly hampered by noisy visitors but once we let them pass it was a nice experience I especially liked the interactive parts of the museum. WE spent about an hour and a half here. Worth a visit.
