very small domestic airport. 4 Lombok flights per day. No reason to arrive more than 35 minutes before your departure time. 3 gates . no cafe or amenities available. you will walk the tarmac to your flight.

This airport still needs a lot of improvements to be capable to serve normal tourists and not only local transits.

Wings-Air/Lion-Air is serving the Airport - unfortunately quite often with delay or miss of the connection flight in Lombok.

Lets see whats happens in the next 5 years. I guess there is a huge potential that the airport will be able to handle foreign tourists as needed.

Messy & dirty. Probably after the construction it will be better. As usual, taxi drivers will swarm toward you.

The airport is relatively small in terms of size with very low frequency of flight. Currently there are only two airlines to operate in the town airport, in which of those are state-owned Merpati Nusantara Airlines (thrice weekly, i.e. Sunday, Tuesday and Friday ) using Xian MA60 regularly and regional Trans Nusa airlines that operates mostly Fokker F50 daily. Both the airlines service the only Sumbawa-Lombok route, and even to Bali through stopover at neighbouring Lombok International Airport (LOP).

The airport has extended the width and length (I still don't get the exact figure of the extended area change) yet it is still purposed for turboprop-typed aircraft, means it is still unable to accomodate jet plane even for the least B737s or A320s. But I think it may be still sufficient for Sukhoi Superjet 1000 and Bombardier CRJ1000 to make flight attempt over there.

Brang Biji Airport in few recent years has slightly improved in service. Waiting room is now well air-conditioned. It also has a decent TV screen on the wall though merely airs local/national channel.

But there are still homeworks to be done such as; the baggage claim area which is not decent enough for its less security control, the non-pax (particluarly escorts) can easily come in and flock inside. Check-in counter is not well provided with advanced IT system, thing that causes long queue sometimes. The last thing that really bothers pax' convenience is "toilet". Most of westafels run out of water, it is even dried off with urinal stink left.

My latest dropping by there was August 2013. Looking forward to see significant improvement occuring in the near future (or just occured already?) :-)
