The hotel is a bit shaggy, there's no wifi, the food used to be very bad, now it's a bit better.

I never write reviews but felt urged to do so here. The hotel is extremely clean with excellent large rooms and a great pool. However the best thing about the hotel is the staff. We had been on the dalmatian coast and had been disappointed with the general level of Croatian service. Maybe they are tired of tourists. In Zagreb and particularly this hotel it is very different. The staff were smiling, friendly, attentive and helpful. Particularly the man who attended us in the restaurant was excellent. As was the food. Location is spectactular if you have a car and visit Zagreb.

Room smelled like it had been coated in Febreze when we arrived and it gave my spouse an asthma attack.
The walls where covered in scratches and stains, huge chunks of plaster where missing from the corners.
The elevator was broken so we had to take the stairs or the elevator on the other side of the building.
The shower head would not stay attached to the wall and had to be held in place while showering.
The bar tender was polite but not a cheerful person. He also was our waiter, and kept hiding in a back room so we could not order more drinks or food. The hotel was empty while we where here, we saw only one other person after 4pm, in the restaurant.
I am sure the food in the restaurant was straight out of a packet, normally I'll eat anything but somehow it was so damn salty neither of us could finish. We went to bed still hungry.
The room temperature was uncomfortably hot, even after we turned the heaters off. We spent the night with the window open - not so bad but the cold would blow tight through the paper-thin duvet. The bed sheets had some strange stains and tears.
The sauna, pool, gym, spa are all extra and after having a look (it smelled bad) we decided to avoid extra disappointment.
There was only 1 role of toilet paper, which we used up quickly after dinner.
The WiFi is only in the lobby, and is very slow.
Left before breakfast, we decided not to stay another day.

Nice, clean, pleasant, helpful staff, good breakfast options. The heating (in January) was so high, though, that we had to open all the windows just to be able to breethe :)

Beautiful old school hote. A bit on the expensive side which does not correspond to the offer and state of the hotel (a bit outdated). Still, if you can afford it's a treat and a great location so close to the capital and yet so undisturbed.
