I’m rarely motivated to write poor reviews about places, but do want to pass along my expierence and let you take it as you will. I’m not sure why we had such a different expierence from so many others, and I was sad as I was really looking forward to this place.
When we arrived there was one staff member there, she showed us to our room but didn’t give us any information about activities or breakfast or anything, I think she was a cleaning lady so I don’t blame her. The shower curtain rod was down, not a big deal we just kind of rigged it up. We left early the next morning to go out to the east end for the day. When we got back the owner rushed out to us and asked for my ID and credit card for payment (we weren’t leaving until the following day) she had also left a handwritten note tapped on out door asking the same which I thought was a bit embarrassing/crass. Normally hotels and bnbs have us pay at the end of our stay ( not to mention it was booked through a website that requires your credit card information to book) and she wasn’t there when we arrived. It made us feel like we were delinquents, and she was more interested in money than anything else.
The room was not cleaned our second day.
The following morning we went down for breakfast and when we found no one there, so we headed back up to our room. On the way the owner met us on the stairs and we were informed the cook hadn’t showed up and that she would go make us breakfast. She gave us a brief list of options, (verbally & quickly on the stairs, no menu) eggs and potatoes, yogurt and granola etc. I asked for eggs and yougurt and was told curtly I could have eggs and potatoes OR yogurt and granola, from the way she listed I didn’t realize it was one or the other and again she made me feel embarrassed ( I’m a very non confrontational person). To be fair she did surprise me with eggs, potatoes and yogurt but we just had a bit of a bad taste about this place at this point.
You should also be aware, you do not get access to the kayaks or paddle boards, you must rent for $25 per hour or take a 2 hr tour for $45. We read this in the booklet. At the price point of the this hotel I really feel this should be included if they are not in use for cruise ship tours. Especially since we were the only guests in the hotel the first night (there was one other couple the second). I was since informed by her reply on a review you have access to them at no charge after the tour, unfortunately this was not told to us, we were looking forward to exploring the mangroves.
Also they ask you only use the internet for email. (Again This is listed in the booklet in the room we read to Get an idea about the hotel since we had no information given either day, just asked for money).
Location is isolated, I would recommend a car. This is what we were going for though. Setting is also very nice, the rooms have a fridge and a coffee maker, I don’t think there is a communal kitchen, there is no beach, but a dock to some mangroves.
All in all this was the one place in Roatan we would not stay again, we really did not feel welcomed by the end of our stay and felt like more of a burden, better deals/hospitality can be found elsewhere on the island.response / report this review -

My husband and I were on a cruise and I decided I did not want to go through the ship for snorkeling. I googled and found this place.They had a driver there waiting for us and took us to this beautiful paradise. The owner Barb was waiting for us as we drove up. Snorking was amazing along with lunch. Hospitality was amazing and we definitely will be back. Thanks Barb.

Every now and then you find a gem and meet amazing people. A small resort in Honduras, a great home cooked meal and the best snorkel spots to view is what you will receive on your visit. This is not your typical large 20+ person's group, this is personal and anyone who knows wildlife (I am a wildlife photographer) knows that you will see and experience more in nature, with less people present. The owner made us feel at home and is a very inspirational person. I would not hesitate to visit again!

Best snorkeling I have ever experienced (and I've been to a number of locations around Caribbean and SE US). Very calm, very private cove without a lot of bleached choral. Definitely on the go-back list.
