Just returned from a week in Roatan and stayed at Las Rocas. The service was very good and friendly. Winston at the bar/restaurant was a great host all week. His musical playlists were always a treat to listen to (if you like motown, blues and classic rock).
Location was very central to both West End and West Bay. The food was also quite exceptional. Would recommend the fish tacos and the lobster pasta w/cream sauce.
Cottages were honestly spartan but comfortable. I had lots of hot water and decent water pressure. Beds were pretty stiff but not uncomfortable. All the cottages are only footsteps from the beach, diving dock and restaurant.
Many people I spoke to had been repeat visitors to Las Rocas, some for more than 12 years. That speaks for itself. :)
I LOVE Las Rocas!!! The staff is great. They treat you like family. The food is great not a single bad choice on the menu. The location is perfect away from the crowds when you want to be and a 1 minute walk in one direction or a couple minutes in a water taxi in the other and you're in the middle of all the action. But the people are what make Las Rocas special. The dive masters, Laura and Alex, are fun, professional, and experts at their jobs. You'll feel right at home with everyone at Las Rocas. Be sure to say hi to Elio, Raul and Winston at the bar!
great little place to stay at the end of the hotel/condos area. Quiet and short walking distance to town. friendly staff. small pool but water is full of sea life for snorkling,. Great beaches down from our place for walking and checking out all the kiosks on the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful. Recommend taking US dollars before you get here as they charge you a fee for buying money. We thought we'd have to use their currency but US dollars is accepted everywhere. There's boats that take you to and from town if you want to spend the day there. This is a snorkling paradise and scuba diving excursions are also available. Highly recommend this place for couples, not so much for families. I'd recommend one of the larger hotels/condos as they have pools for the kids.
We love Las Rocas! Great place, even greater people 😍
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, good food and drink. They need to use filtered water for their coffee and ice, desalination plant probably not running at 100% and you can smell it in the water. Hot water takes a while to come on, but it eventually makes it. Grounds are extremely clean, guard patrols seems like every ten minutes. Awesome dive shop, Alex is a top notch dive master
Nice little place, very friendly staff. Beach and lots of things nearby.
A fantastic experience with amazing dives and wonderful staff! Highly recommended!
Water taste really bad. Water (shower and tab) felt not very clean. Partly because of the location and the salt water, but also sheets are not really clean (stains etc). Couch was absolutely sticky.
Breakfast was pretty good and always different. Plus for that. Also the prices in the restaurant are ok.
Super disappointed about the bad communication for the dive prices I asked how much a FUN Dive is and they told me 40 USD. nobody told me that there is 10 USD extra for equipment and on top of that taxes so you end up with 57 USD for a dive I left the place with a bad feeling.
Nice, clean rooms. Excellent food and drinks. Quiet and relaxed even at full capacity. Decent snorkeling right off of their small beach. They're located next to a larger public beach area with many restaurants and resorts as well as some really top notch snorkeling spots within a half mile. Even when the other nearby resorts were teaming with people, Las Rocas was nice and quiet. Staff was friendly and private security was present which made us feel safe leaving our things on the beach while snorkeling for long periods.
Cons:
- Water is very smelly, a few water softener systems would go a long way.
- No mini mart or place to get essentials or snacks (one shop nearby was never open).
- Upon arrival the AC unit for our room was off and the porch light was off. It's very dark at night, but they did trim the foliage when we were there which allowed the lights to be more useful.
A barefoot jewel! Las Rocas Resort & Dive Center is a rustic small resort nested in a very private area of West Bay Beach. You're literally steps away from the crowd and at the same time in a very tranquille area. All the bungalows have air conditioning, private porch and hammock. Attention is very personal, and you will get to know all your fellow guests after a few hours. If you come to Roatan to dive you will not be disappointed. The dive shop, although open to the public, offer its services mostly to the resort guests. Up to 3 dives a day with uncrowded boat. The bar restaurant has some of the best food of the island. Caribbean food with an Italian flair is the theme of their menu. Popular Happy Hour at their water front Bar, look for Winson, he makes the best Monkeylala of Roatan, bar none!
Las Rocas is my preferred place to stay in Roatan. Staff is very helpful, proprietor is kind, service is great, food is excellent, dive shop is amazing, location is perfect, and accommodations are enjoyable (eg, wifi, ac, hot water)! Snorkeling off adjacent West bay is outstanding. Perfect accommodations for divers, families, and other travelers looking for a relaxing hassle free vacation in paradise.
It was the vacation of our life time; and that's allot of time (both in our 60's). Many vacations and cruises, all inclusive, and vacations in the US; Las Rocas makes all those trips pale. Major relaxation, as their shirt says "0 stress" it's absolutely true. The resort is quiet and out of the way from the hustle, bustle and loud music that's on the beach, but guess what. You are a total of 100 yards from all the noise, beach, and food you can take! I call it the best of both worlds. Dive team is AWESOME! Small and personal, no monster dive boat with 50 divers. Lot's of personal attention from dive masters who FIRST care for the safety of divers in their charge. I don't think it's possible to come here and leave with anything but joy in your heart. Pasquale, the owner, is very personable and his personality spills over to his staff and they are fabulous. Enjoy your trip; it's one you will never forget.
Amazing!!! I was certified at Las Rocas. The diving was out of this world!! The dive staff, Laura, Alex and Super Mario are great!! Very knowledgeable and patient! The entire staff from the dining to the office to security were very friendly and went out of their way to help! Rooms aren't fancy but cute and clean. I can't say enough about Las Rocas. We came as tourists and left as friends!!!
Amazing! Super friendly staff, super cute rooms, pricing is good for West Bay, and we really enjoyed being on the edge of the beach because it's much quieter and more private, but still very accessible.
Place needs a little updating but overall is good. The staff here is great!! The location is great. You have a 2 minute walk to west Bay beach. Free shuttle to west end. Free breakfast that changes everyday. There is a dive center on location. Lots of reefs nearby to snorkel.
Great location! Very close to good eats (Foster's and Beacher's), with a good cafe of their own (we had daily breakfast, which was different each day). Very relaxed, casual and clean. (If I could take off 1/2 star it would be for the hard beds, but nothing I wasn't able to get used to). Good snorkeling right off their isolated beach. Would definitely stay there again!
