We felt like family. So relaxing!
Very relaxing and the owners are amazing. We felt like family.
Where do I even start? La Villa De Soledad is amazingly gorgeous. It took me two days to catch my breath after seeing the beauty of this place. Pictures don't cut it, you have to see it for yourself!! The family welcomes you and you instantly feel right at home.
Soledad is an amazing chef! She is warm and inviting and spoils you with her amazing meals! Her beef tenderloin melts in your mouth. Jessica cooked dinner for us one night as well and I've never tasted a more delicious chicken dinner! Breakfast every morning was a beautiful display of fresh fruit and juice, which was more than enough, but then Soledad brought out even more! The eggs and beleadas were absolutely delicious, a perfect start to power you through your day!
John is wonderful at helping you navigate your arrival, your stay there, and your departure. He has great tips for things to do in the area. We never once felt unsafe traveling anywhere in Honduras. It truly is a beautiful country.
John and his nephew, Johnny, were also a huge help to us, translating Spanish to English. Our Spanish greatly improved in our short time there! Only a few chuckles along the way :)
Johnny also gave us a tour of the plants growing in their beautiful gardens. Tasting the fresh Cinnamon and black pepper was so cool!
Their home is perfectly set up for privacy as well as inclusion. You felt free to relax alone with your own porch and hammock, or to take off adventuring. We also felt very welcomed to sit around after dinner and talk to the family as well. We usually keep to ourselves, but choosing their company truly adds to the experience.
We started most of our days with a short walk to the majestic Rio Cangrejal, for swimming, sight seeing, and hiking. We both agreed that even if we didn't get to experience any of the many other things offered here, that would have been more than enough.
We walked to Omega Tours for lunch one day. That was a great experience as well. On the walk there, there is a man with a small home/store who carves beautiful wood art. You can watch him work and that added to the charm of this area. I also highly recommend taking a short trip to Sambo Creek for their zip lining (optional), incomparable hot springs, massage, and a volcanic mud mask!
You get to retreat to your room at night, take an amazing shower (the water pressure was adjustable and comparable to a wonderful massage) and fall asleep to the sound of the Rio Cangrejal rushing outside your windows. Coming from Michigan, we aren't used to hot weather, but it was never too hot to sleep at night.
The bed was so comfortable, the ceiling fan and open windows were a treat! We even took a few naps during the day because it was such a comfortable place to be.
Waking up to bird song every morning was such an amazing way to start your dayand then Soledad brings you your coffeeoh, the coffee!! It can't be compared to any other coffee because it is out of this world delicious! I don't know what her trick is!
I could go on to write an entire romance novel about our 10 day stay in Honduras, but I will leave some surprises for you when you arrive. Don't be afraid to travel here! The country and the people are amazing. So many smiles and warm greetings. We never once felt unsafe.
La Villa De Soledad, the area, the family, and our experience there was truly the highlight of our trip. Magic may be the best word to describe this place, but that might not even be adequate.
5 nights in La Villa De Soledad was not long enoughcan we just move in!? Haha! Already planning for our return trip. Thank you so much! We left a piece of our hearts with you.
Best romantic destination getaway in La Ceiba. Quiet, tranquil, cool, you can hear the river from your room., delicious food..very amiable staff. 5 stars.
Beautiful place to stay with great people and great service. If you're looking for a place to relax, this is the place to come. Short walk to the river to enjoy the amazing view guided by a very polite tour dog named Nina.
A marvelous villa in a wonderful location, made all the more special by the gracious and helpful hosts. Our stay began under poor auspices: due to transportation problems en route, it was late at night and raining by the time we finally arrived hours after we said we would. No matter: we were taken care of marvelously and made to feel right at home from the start. The rest of our stay just got better and better. Highly recommended.
I would like to tell you a story of the most amazing feat of customer service my husband and I have ever experienced!! We stayed with Soledad and John in 2014 -- they were amazing! In the manner of newbie solo travelers, we missed a bus and were not on the bus out of San Pedro Sula that we said we would be on -- and getting into La Ceiba well after dark! It was a worrisome time, to put it mildly! We needn't have worried -- Soledad sent the magnificent Harry and his intrepid driver Johnny to find us! They spent upwards of 4 hours moving between 3 different bus stations and when we pulled into La Ceiba in the dead of night on a different bus line over 4 HOURS AFTER THE ONE WE"D TOLD THEM WE WOULD BE ON, the car from Hotel La Villa de Soledad was there waiting for us! To this day, still the most incredible feat of customer service we've ever experienced! Lovely food with the freshest fruits, a clean, open kitchen, views from the table of bird life -- it just kept getting better. Soledad also set us up with a guide service for a lovely hike into the cloud forest. The pictures of the place are accurate and do not misrepresent. Simply a marvelous operation with a great team!!
John and his wife Soledad couldn't be more charming hosts at their beautiful villa, which offers a delightfully relaxing place to stay. The gardens are beautiful and you are right on the doorstep of the national park - just cross the swing bridge. Bathing in the river was a fabulous experience, with tropical birds flying overhead. The hammocks back at the villa were also much appreciated!
A wonderful find outside of La Ceiba. Its a bumpy 8km drive but very much worth it. Large quiet rooms overlooking the river, fresh flowers everywhere and plenty of birds. The bed was great. Food was very good. I only stayed one night as a layover to Roatan, but I will come back for another longer stay.
Are you yearning for a laid-back vacation in the jungles of Honduras? We have a place to recommend to you. La Ville de Soledad is a delightful Bed and Breakfast where you are pampered and made to feel so welcome by the hosts John and Soledad. The breakfasts are delicious with many types of fruit skillfully prepared by Soledad and her helpers plus your choice of breakfast food and tasty Honduran coffee. Lunch and dinner were also prepared if guests wanted to eat each meal in this lovely setting.
The view from the open veranda overlooks the Rio Cangrejal and faces Pico Bonito National Park. The park is accessible within a short walk and the river offers nice swims or rafting experiences. The birds of the jungle come to the yard, not by being lured in with feeders, but they just naturally perch in the trees by the house. A knowledgeable birding guide came to the house and helped us spot and identify many of the native birds in the area. Trips to the Wildlife Reserve or out to the Hog Islands can be arranged by John your host who will drive you to your destination and bring you back to the house.
Relax family ambiance; nice gardens and nature surroundings; they readily do all they can to assist you
My boyfriend and I recently spent one night at Villa de Soledad and loved it. The house reminds me of a beautiful hacienda that one envisions while reading a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel. Cool terracotta floors, tropical flowers in vases & multiple hammocks to lay in to watch the beautiful mountain views. Our room was spacious, clean, and kept cool at night.
John and his wife Soledad were very kind and made sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. We really enjoyed the fresh fruit plate in the morning and the yummy chicken fajitas that were made for us at night.
The house is located right next to the national park where you can take a 7km hike to the waterfalls. I also highly recommend walking down to the river and taking a deep.
La Villa de Soledad is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful area. Highly recommend!
Our stay at La Villa de Soledad exceeded our expectations. Here you will be surrounded by beauty, tranquility, and top notch hospitality. After an action packed week on the islands, we could not have imagined a more perfect place to wind down toward the end of our time in Honduras. It's all too inviting to simply enjoy walking around the property, taking in the surroundings of lush plants and birds to see, or read or nap in a hammock. If you want more action, white water rafting opportunities are very close by (we used Omega Tours), and the Visitor's Center and bridge entry into Parque National Pico Bonito is a short walk away and offers incredible views, hiking, and birding not to be missed. La Villa de Soledad is ideally located. Soledad is an amazing cook, and John is very helpful and knowledgeable about not only the La Ceiba/Pico Bonito area, but Honduras in general. Their whole family is warm and hospitable and make you feel right at home. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious, and authentic. You will not be disappointed at La Villa de Soledad!
