Tuesday Salsa Party, The Best Salsa Mambo Chacha DJ/Dancer/Instructor in town. A Must-go for die-hard salsa mambo fans. Best time to arrive is around 22:00
A guy went crazy and started hitting everyone in the club, we called the police, bouncers were protecting him and hiding him when they came.
A disgrace I'll never go again.
Hands down the #1 club in Hong Kong… Ive played here a few times and it is always a pleasure. Friendly staff, good looking and musically educated (thank god) crowd, and open late…very late haha. Give this place a visit while you are in town!
Pretty nice club but gets raided by police constantly.
Mediocre LKF club. You need a document to get in. 30HKD for the wardrobe is too expensive! Music so-so, but I heard the bass well. Pricey in general, but one night we got in for free + got an extra drink, so that was nice. Toilets are completely dark. I liked that you can smoke inside. Rude bouncers! - I like to be respected in places where I am a guest. They didnt allow us as a group to get a table after another friend's group of friends left. Overall experience: there were not enough things to make me go there again. There are better clubs in LKF.
Pleased with equal pricing for men/women. Make sure you have HKID or Passport as the Police often come in and check.
Good HipHop club. Except when they try to make guys pay 250-300hkd to get in get a flyer down the street and get in for free instead!
Straight out of Hong Kong party is the place to be if you're into hip hop.
Overpriced, Overhyped, Overcrowded. Last time for me.
Bitches at the entry door and ain't talking about girls. Security beats you up 1 VS 10 😂😂😂
The club is awesome except the people keeping it safe 😂😂😂😂😂😂 they beat you while you are white ( or strangers and impolite (while you don't pay as much as they want)
Basically, if you aren't protected by your own Hotel or even the police please ignore this story and complain about the née régulations in NZ
Probably the coolest place for great music and meeting people in LKF.
Mediocre vibe. Overpriced everything. Extremely rude bouncers - I know they aren't paid to be particularly bright, but they shoved people, flickered extremely bright flashlights in eyes, etc. Fun to jump and dance, but way too loud.
Very popular, and the crowd is always good - drinks are quite pricey though, but that's to be expected.
Terrible, Paid ticket don't necessarily get you entrance, you still have to queue, as the club always oversell, this is against law and expect it to be closed sooner or later.
OK, so this place was a mixed bag for the Wednesday Halloween party;
Straight up the good stuff first:
Oh my goodness those speakers. If you're on the dancefloor the sound is more or less everywhere, very bassy and very full sound. If you're like me, you're there to dance, the bass more than goes through you - very potent and yet the sound quality is good and full enough that you can hear the details and top ends and vocals.
The décor is great, classy with a futuristic vibe, top marks on that front too.
Great air conditioning provided it's not too overcrowded.
So the bad for me:
Good décor and brilliant speakers a good club does not make. It was overcrowded, overcrowded, overcrowded. It didn't help that an entire section was booked off at the back, VIP was packed out too and yet they refused to open the spillover room. A friend said they felt it was '5% too crowded', I would have probably gone further to over 10%. That's just me though, I like to dance and that was *simply not possible* on the dancefloor and probably would have been a struggle even with 10% less people.
The music was meh. It was mostly pretty safe remixes of pretty safe pop songs, which is fine, but not what I personally pay entry for, and to me, a waste of such great speakers.
The drinks were expensive. I expected them to be expensive, but I asked the bar tender for the cheapest drinks, he asked what I wanted, I said double rum straight and I *think he understood*, keyed in the - customer facing - tills and I kid you not, HK$120. I would have said half that was expensive but not necessarily unexpected, that blew me away. I didn't buy a drink.
The vibe was slightly off. This is very subjective, but the overcrowding, mediocre music, expensive drinks and costumes didn't really do it for me. I know people had fun, and I'm not saying I didn't; but even some of the group I was with were saying something was off. Security was incredibly tight with loads of bouncers everywhere and it didn't help the DJ was too vocal and always wanted us to 'put our hands in the air' and expected us to sit down and jump up at one point, in what little space we had
Conclusion:
No doubt the facilities - particularly the speakers - are top notch, probably the best in LKF though I haven't really experienced much at LKF itself so can't say for certain. If you don't mind the entry costs, you pre-drink, and choose the right night with the right music (check out the DJs before you go) you should have a great night. But if you're a dancer or like a slightly more underground feel, a different club might be for you!
Best Club in Lan Kwai Fong, Central, Hong Kong
Great club for hip hop and rnb music. Dj had some really good mixes. Drinks were slightly overpriced (660HKD for a bottle of Chardonnay) but the experience was well worth it. Staff were friendly and polite and the overall atmosphere was good. ☺️ might actually make a return today before flying back to the UK
