It seem a bit small, i think it will better visit there on weekday with few people,.so you can enjoy quiet beach for whole day

I stayed in November 2018. The room was great but the staff refused my request to unlock the windows overlooking the bay, seaside. They said they worried wildlife would come in. I was on 2nd floor. There was a v beautiful echo from waves rolling in, a sea breeze v nice..at the beach right outside, ,..but I could not hear it nor feel it with window locked. A shame they don't understand why people choose hotels on the beach side. Don't stay here if you want unlocked openable windows

It’s been a few years, so please take that into consideration.
Silvermine’s location is unique for Hong Kong seated in a town with rural charm. It’s also an ideal location for those who enjoy hiking.
During our stay, the service was wanting and the room tired and dated. I believe it has since been renovated so please consider other reviews in conjunction with this.

Security is good with card access into the annex building and rooms. Room was old, had a musty smell and even though non-smoking, could still discern smoke smell on the bed linen.

Certainly a no frills place. You have to pay extra for wifi and no alarm call available. Bearing in mind it does day rooms for airport layovers its a bit poor. Swimming pool also not open till April so disappointed couldn't have a reviving swim. Nice beach view though from sea view rooms and big bed comfy.

The hotel is located in quaint Mui Wo. It is a Beach Front property that is near some restaurants as well as the ferry port. It is also near the Mui Wo waterfalls and cave with easy and lit paths.

The hotel is old and needs some additional care. The pool was closed during my visit. Breakfast buffet is available.

Check in time is at 3 PM and check out is at 12 PM. We tried to ask for a late checkout but they couldn't accommodate us due to bookings.

There is free Wi-Fi at the hotel lobby but if you need access in your room you have to extra $100 HKD per night.

The staff was OK; Precy from the Seashore Cuisine was really nice.

Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike the hotel. It's great for sleepover between your flights, but unfortunately no more. Rooms are clean, bedding is clean, no bugs or something. But the hotel is dated, and maintenance is clearly required. It's kind of dirty outside and inside . not dirty but yeah, dated. For the price is OK.
It has good enough breakfast offered for 33 HK$. Nice selection of food.
The place where it's located is gorgeous, right on the beach surrounded by mountains.
Getting there from the Airport is tricky though.
Leave the terminal. Go find bus S1 and go to Tung Chung station (3,5 HK$ - exact change!). Get off. Go to your right and a bit back and cross the road on (street light). There is another bust stop. Find M3 bus. Hop on this bus. Cost is 16.5 HK$ - exact change!. Go to the very last stop - Mui Wo Ferry Terminal, get off and walk to your hotel - it will be visible on the beach to your left.
The drive is around 35 minutes. Beautiful ride though (daytime).
Around the place you'll find lots of small restaurants, where I would not dare to eat. I just went to a small supermarket at Riverplace building in the back of the hotel and picked up some noodles and HK beer. Good enough.
Anyways, summarize - good hotel, good enough food, great place, lots of unused potential for hotel - I would say hidden gem for sure, but yeahunpolished.

Family with kids are recommended ,Silvermine Beach is an old port on Lantau island. Restaurant,supermarket nearby and facilities are developed
Not as many people as Tung Chun or Discovery Bay

Very friendly staff. Great price right on the beach. A well-priced beer overlooking the sea in the heat of the day - heaven! The rooms are clean, spacious and have anything you need. Amazing for the price.

The best restaurant terrace location in entire Hong Kong with the worst service. Would give it only 1 star was it not for the gorgeous views while endlessly waiting for a lousy drink.

View is really great! The cows are adorable! They have a sauna and a gym. Although the breakfast wasn't very good and the bbq buffet was a rip off. But overall it was a pretty good experience.

The birthday package is worth more than the minimum in HK which is $600/double bed. Pay up to $900 but not the full $2000 because it's not quite that 4*/5* top standard yet: the honey lemon fish tastes like a pancake, location is a bit untidy. Nice big bed, well manicured grounds etc. Facing staff are a bit fresh but the maître d' is fighting hard so could justify the price when you get there.

This hotel is three stars at best. It's strangely decorated and smells old and stale. The staff spoke perfect English which was a plus, however they weren't very accommodating. I asked upon check-in if there was water in the room and was told yes, however there was not. When I called down to ask for some to be sent up, not only did the phone not work, but after calling from my cell phone they told me I had to come down and get it. They charge for internet which is also an inconvenience. The location is about 30 mins away from HKG airport and a taxi ride costs about $20 USD. Good for a one night stay but wouldn't recommend it for anything more.

Have a lot mainland China tourists now, make the place very noisy and dirty. Saw they use their own utensils for picking buffet food. Totally a waste to the very good view and beach.
