The Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre was first established in 1896 by the Hong Kong Regiment, on the site where the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station now stands. It was originally intended to serve the Indian Muslim troops of the British army stationed at nearby Whitfield Barracks, now the site of the adjacent Kowloon Park.

In the late 1970s, the building suffered structural defects due to the underground construction carried out for the Mass Transit Railway. With the compensation given by Mass Transit Railway Corporation and donations from Muslims, a new Mosque was built and was open on 11 May 1984 on the present site at 105 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, to replace the old one.

Currently, the mosque primarily serves Muslims with origin from South Asia and Indonesia. Many of them live around the mosque area nearby Chungking Mansions where ethnic minorities have settled. This also explains why Kowloon Mosque also plays an important role as a cultural site for non-Chinese Muslims in Hong Kong.[3]

Hamdullah It’s a wonderful place. However, elders/instructors have responsibilities to teach kids not playing and screaming in the PRAY room. They need to respect everyone inside. it’s for Allah. Not playground.

The islamic center at the kowloon city. This mosque is big and very comfortable to pray in here. The location is very strategic easy to access by public transportation. This mosque surrounded by stores and lot of halal restaurant.
At the side of the mosque is the Kowloon park.

Kowloon Masjid and Islamic Centre or Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre (Chinese: 九龍清真寺暨伊斯蘭中心) is second among five principal mosques constructed in Hong Kong. Located in Kowloon at the corner of Nathan Road and Haiphong Road next to Kowloon Park, the mosque is currently the largest Islamic house of worship in the city. The mosque holds 5 prayers daily and is capable of accommodating up to approximately 3,500 people.

The Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Center is a big and beautiful square building with a pink roof and a dome on the top. The architectural detail can be seen from above.

The building is a large building with four spires that stands out because of its while color and architecture.

It is located in Tsim Sha Tsui where there is a big population of Pakistanis, South Asians and Africans. It is Hong Kong's biggest Islamic Mosque.

A beautiful mosque in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui , built with white marble. It's really nice location just next to Kowloon park and the busiest area of Hong Kong not far from Chung king mansion , harbor city , Hayatt regency , holiday inn , some halal restaurants too. The nearest station is TST exit A ( Kowloon park )

Great Mosque that has been around for over a century on the heart of busy Hong Kong shopping district on Nathan Road. This mosque is serving the Muslim community of Hong Kong by offering regular prayer congregation as well as by holding various events to celebrate Islamic Festivals. This place serves as a reminder that we all can co-exist as peaceful human beings even with different set of beliefs.

We were surprised to find such a large mosque in central Kowloon during our stroll along Nathan road. It was busy with devotees conducting or finishing evening prayers. We managed to take a peek at its interior which reveal a prayer hall. We learnt that the existing structure was a replacement of the original built as early as 1896. We did not take any photos of the interior and people out of respect.

This has been my first visit to ANY mosque at all. I was afraid to enter there - maybe they're bloodthirsty people?? (I thought to myself). BUt reality turned out to be completely different - all Muslims there were very nice, open hearted people. Answered ALL my question - also those about their "naughty behaviour" in Europe, especially Germany and France. I'm glad that I came here. Thx.

The largest mosque in Hong Kong. It's certainly a place to visit if you're a Muslim and even if you aren't, you are more than welcome to come inside and admire the architecture. It's a interesting contrast in the concrete jungle. They have events for people to come in and learn about Islam too. Very spacious and have daily 5 times prayers.
