Dinner Experience at the Dickens Bar to watch the Live Footage of the Royal Wedding Of Prince Harry to Megan..
I booked a table for myself and two friends from overseas. After looking at the Special English Menu which was specially prepared for the event, we were all under the illusion that we could have the Set for 2 people which included 4 different mains to choose from. Staff were slow to ask what we wanted. Did not explain how the menu worked. Apparently it was a menu with a small portion of each of the 4 dishes which was not clear. 2 of us had fish and chips with green peas and chips. Our starter was a Mixed Plate Taster with Calamari, Cheese Sausages, Spicy Chicken wings and Quesadilla. Very good to share with 3 people.
Dinner was good, what took a long time was plate removal and meals arriving at different times instead of together.
Very noisy Sports Bar in general and would say it's ok for watching big games with a bunch of friends. Not in a hurry to go back unfortunately, food was good.
Dickens used to serve pretty tasty and authentic Indian buffets both for lunch and dinner, but that was many many years ago. Now the daily lunch buffet has only one or at most two subpar Indian dishes so that's not worth going for, and the weekly Indian dinner buffet (every Thursday iirc) is still opulent, but asides from the fried dishes and bbq chickens made to order, the rest of the main dishes are half hearted. The buffet is obviously geared for families, but it is definitely not worth its high price. It is a nice sport bar, but the once famous buffet is now now sadly a distant memory.
Forgot my wallet and the staff was so friendly to call and got my wallet back to me. Plus the food was great. Big portions. Love the HK IPA!!
Good pub type rstu to grab a beer and some dinner, but although food taste good, the portions can really be a bit more generous. And the service staff can be less clueless
Needs more IPAs in 2017. Food is hearty and portions match the price.
Nice cellar pub with great selection of bottle and draft beers and excellent but affordable cuisine.
Surprisingly a very nice and convenient location to cheer up with friends. There's space and food is nice.
Classic pub, great place to watch the game and enjoy some beers and pub food. Not too rowdy, which is a solid vibe sometimes.
Good food and atmosphere, reasonably priced for Hong Kong.
Wonderful place to meet with friends! Love Pork Knuckle so much! And the child dinner set so great and the hamburger not mini, haha 😋
Under staffed, long delays, aftet 40mins they brought out some one else's order. Only to tell me they were 'out' of my order. So i ordered their #1 steak med-rare. So average :-( Took another 20 mins to come out.
Cozy old English bar kind of atmosphere. Sometimes I just come home for the warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and a beer. Good treat.
It's quite dated, and the food isn't anything to write home about. The service can use a little bit of help too. It's OK to grab a drink, but I wouldn't eat there again, lots of better options nearby.
A nice watering hole inside "The Excelsior Hotel". Has a variety of choices and have some good food to accompany your drinks. Worth visiting.
Nice roast of pork belly but less seasoning! To take care lady's taste?! No lady will order this fatty dish.
Great place or some English Pub atmosphere. The food is good and also the variety of beverages on tap. Would recommend for meeting friends for a catch up. They show the major sporting events (ruby, cricket and football) on the TV's around the room as well.
