Clean and comfortable, the "garden" is nice even if there are no real plants. Good showers. Booked a bus ticket for me but instructions were unclear and my connection got mixed up. You can choose what music plays in the shared area.

Great inexpensive option, staff were lovely. Kitchen facilities are good and there is a proper grocery store just a short walk from the hostel. Just not very safe neighbourhood after dark.

Great location and very good facilities, I didn't actually sleep here but needed a safe space to stay for the day while waiting for my night bus on two different occasions in Guatemala city. The bedrooms looked clean and I made use of the kitchen which was fully equipped. Spacious and clean bathrooms too. Staff was friendly the first day but the man on the second occasion was a little colder and tried to make me pay to use the toilet.

Nice location. Hard to find at first. Door remains locked at all times. Make sure to notify someone if you plan on leaving at night since there won't be anyone at the desk

The theatre hostel is like a harbour in a storm. Rode my bike over from the airport and they accommodated me perfectly. Safe place to store my gear. Comfy bed, relaxing courtyard to recline and have a beverage in. Great atmosphere for the low maintenance Traveller.

Nice vibe, a little rustic but perfectly comfortable. Cool design with the tiles and quotations painted on the walls, and great pancakes, fresh fruit, caramel spread and coffee as part of the free breakfast. Noisy spot however, be sure to grab earplugs from the front desk or you will not sleep (city traffic, aeroplanes, church bells). Pleasant outdoor communal area for breakfast in the sunshine, and two colourful budgies for company.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a few days upon arriving in Guatemala. The location is excellent - right in the center of Zona 1, which has the historical center, shopping, close proximity to a number of long distance and local bus stations, and only 10-15 minutes drive from the airport (less than $10 taxi).
Staff was always present and eager to help. The owner, was quick to assist, explain, and suggest things to do. There were a few other employees doing general maintenance and cleaning on-site throughout the day. Laundry service was available for a low price.
I never waited for a bathroom and found the hostel to be clean and well kept - and I'm very picky. The breakfasts were superb - who doesn't like pancakes and fruit? There was beer for sale in the central courtyard, which doubled as the lounge. A computer was available for guest use also. The rooms were incredibly spacious compared to most hostels I've stayed in!
The hostel was quiet for sure, although everyone hung out in the courtyard. If you're looking for a party, there are bars and restaurants very close by, but I appreciated the ability to sleep uninterrupted, and should you be an extra light sleeper, I liked the free earplugs in the jar at the desk. Another thing to mention - the hostel was very secure - the door to the street could be opened from the front desk only. There were lockers to place valuables in.
Overall I would recommend this hostel. There is a small pool in the courtyard also, but the weather was not hot enough for my enjoyment! My one suggestion to guests - bring mosquito repellent!response / report this review -

Even though this is a nice hostel in and of itself, the staff and management are totally out to get as much money as they can from costumers. On Hostalworld it's 9USD, on Booking it's 5USD and if you arrive without a reservation they'll take full advantage and charge you 15USD. This was 11:00AM and they knew I was stuck. I don't support places such as this and I wouldn't advise others to either.

Walls are paper thin. Can hear everything. Main clientele when I was there was old fat people who snored louder than an earthquake. If you like sleeping for more than 5 minutes I wouldn't recommend this place. Paid for 2 nights, left after 1 didn't even care about the money!

Easliy the best hostel in Guate city. Its the little things that count in hostels and even though ive stayed in great ones Hostel Teatro Internacional ticks pretty much every box. Saul at reception is super helpful and friendly. Its spaced out and open air. Showers are good and hot and free towels. each bunk has a night light and beds are comfy. The house computer is open to play music during days. Its great value for money. pancakes for breaky are delicious the only thing going against it is that its a bit of a hike from the airport if ur only in town for a day. other than that i recommend it highly ass the best place to stay in guate city avoid Quetzalroo if u dont like unfreindly, unhelpful staff and loads of rules destined to leave u witha bad taste in the mind
