Nice rooms, option to get a room with a/c which is worth it in the hot and humid weather

The owner is very friendly and helpful and it is a really nice place to stay. There was some street noise in the early evening and the tropical birds were loud early in the morning, but we all slept great and the hotel is highly recommended due to the great people. El Remate is a great location too with easy transport, good food options, and beautiful sunsets over the full length of the lake.

The owner is a friendly guy, is easy to speak to and is not too pushy with tours etc. The rooms are clean, have a TV and private bathroom. We went for the cheaper fan room (without AC) 120q/night.
All hotels offer return shuttle to Tikal for 50q, if you're happy to catch the bus it's 20q each way.
Reason for 3* 'Shuttle' to Belize City is standard 150q (20$) from El Remate. We booked it with Sun Breeze as getting regular transport is 'apparently' much the same price. Anyway, a bus showed up 1 hour late, loaded with tourists and there were only the useless middle folding seats left - I was expecting the standard minivan with AC shuttle-bus for that price.
Spend 5hrs sat on the floor of the bus. Not worth 20$. Total rip off. Guess money comes first.
People from Flores pay 120q so price in El Remate should be 100 for this bus

The owner of this place was such a great host!! They let us check in early since we had taken a 10-hour bus ride from Guatemala city. The room was clean, the place was quiet and peaceful.. try it out!!! My picture was taken at a dew meters away from the hotel, on the lake shore.

I felt right at home here. The rooms are great, the location is great. Close to the Jade Museum and the buses to the Tikal ruins are right outside the front of the hotel. The best part of the stay was the service and hospitality of Umberto the owner. My spanish is still very weak and I was so grateful to have Umberto to talk me through the sites in town and advise me about the best places to eat, what is safe, and how to get the best out of our stay. I made myself a very needy guest and he accommodated every request with a happy heart. its daunting to travel to a place like Tikal when you have never been there and are so unfamiliar with the language. But Umberto made me feel like I had a friend. Made my visit to the amazing mayan ruins feel like home.
It was also really cool having so many fruit trees right in the plaza. We have traveled guatemala top to bottom by now and this place is doing it RIGHT. Fiver stars.response / report this review -

Habitaciones sencillas bastante, aceptable todo. Tienes un pequeña terracita para estar delante de la entrada a la habitación. Son muy amables. Hay cocina basica y agua garrafa gratis. Esta bien viajero, no lo dudes.

We liked this place, shuttle bus dropped us off and picked us up right outside on the way to/from Tikal and Flores. Room had hammock on the terrace outside the room and they sold beer cheapest in town.

Great family run hotel, run by a very friendly English speaking family. Rooms were cleaned everyday and has free WiFi and water. Tours and transport to Tikal are run by the family which was also great. Good location close to the lake and a swimming dock as well as many places to eat.

Beautiful place next to the lake. Rooms are spotless and all have private bathroom and hammock. Humberto and his family are very hospitable
