    Bandits and thieves
They are in cahoots with a guy called scar face in Flores. They will book your travel plans and take your money and not actually book anything so you are stuck paying twice. They lie and are crimials. Don't stay at Casa de Dona Tonita. The facilities are bareable for the cheap price, but it is falling apart and the family apears to prefer to party on their stolen money all day.

A great place to stay in el remato. The staff is very helpful and accomodating. Has a beautiful chilling and swimming deck right in the most swimmable part of the lake. The restaurant serves cheap Guatemalan classic but there is also a kitchen to those traveling on a tight budget. Was easy to organise transportation to Flores and other parts of Guatemala here and I got picked up right at the hostel which is very handy for those long 5am journeys to the other major cities.

This place has such a special touch, run by a lovely family who are super welcoming and prepare excellent tasty food. All staff is really friendly also. There are different types of rooms all super nice and clean, new washrooms and showers. Right by the lake and in front of the piers you feel like this is a dream place to chill at or simply a fairy tale location. Ive been back twice and its so beautiful all the time.

We stayed at this hostel first in April 2015 after a friend advised us it was well worth checking out. The family atmosphere, the food, the location, everything about this place blew us away and we stayed for 5 days. 2 years on and we are here again and its beauty remains. The staff treat you like one of their own, cater for your every need make you feel at home. For anyone visiting El Remate staying here will no doubt be a memorable experience.
