Horrible service! We bought an OVERPRICED lunch and beers, asked to use their internet for 10 minutes to re~book our hostel and they would not let us..We walked away without our food as service and staff was so horrible and it took 40 minutes for a quesadilla it wasn't worth our wait. Instead we went down to to the driftwood and they let us.!!! Customer service is very important to us. Never again will I recommend this place, as I have a lot of travelers coming through my bar in Antigua. Save your time and book at the Driftwood Surfer, who has amazing staff and accommodations. Hands down to the Driftwood staff for forever changing our minds and our bookings. Never Stay Here!

Nice place, unique vibe. Not the most comfortable but worth the visit. Good surf right out front. Don't forget your bug spray. Nice selection of boards to rent. Far from town. You need to take a water taxi to get there. The owner which is from Spain was very friendly and wanting to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a leaking roof so she changed our room. Nice decor, good food not great. I would go back.

Great and helpful staff and a great place to surf or just relax and do nothing.
You can rent surf boards, take surf lessons or get in touch with the local community via tours which are offered by an NGO 'La Choza Chula'.
The dinner is organised as 'Family Style Dinner' which gives you a great chance to get in contact with the other guests and was great fun.
    I definitely would come again.
The Surf house offers three types of habitations: a dorm, bungalows (traditional huts on stilts with a unhindered view at the sea) with shared bathroom and suits (little houses with private bathroom). Personally I liked the bungalows most, they are smaller and less comfortable than the suites but the sea-view and the breeze made totally up for that

The original and still the best at setting the vibe of the whole town. Best rental quiver of boards, only place with WiFi and great atmosphere right on the beach.

My stay with the Paredon family was my favorite. The village feels very safe and welcoming. You can just relax and enjoy the quiet black sand beaches or you can venture out for a mangrove tour, surfing classes, or explore local life by visiting the non profit organization La Choza Chula. Both breakfast and family style dinner are included in your stay and give you an opportunity to meet your fellow guests. The food was great. The experience in Surf House El Paredon is something not to miss!

From the beginning everyone, especially Toto our receptionist, was very polite, calm, and accommodating. The bungalow was great to stay in as it included an amazing view of the water. This was also a great place to learn to surf. My instructor, Polo, knew some of the key words in English that I had never learned in Spanish. He was very patient and it was fun learning with him. The black sand beach can get very hot, but close to the waters edge was fine to walk barefoot on. During my stay there were hammocks on the beach, two swings, two tightrope lines between trees, a balancing board, a chlorinated swimming pool, surfboards to rent, cooking classes, and a turtle tour. The food here was great as well.

Best surfing hotel I've been in, the bungalows are awesome. A great experience, although you should be prepared for windy and humid nights

The rooms were lovely and overlooked the ocean. The management was very competent, and offered surf lessons as well as an excellent restaurant/bar that offered a supper every night. The cool-off pool is very much appreciated.

Decent prices, but the waves just aren't that great. It's become too crowded between the two surf houses sharing the beach. The wave is a mix between a takeoff at Upper Trestles to a quick transition to a slow Doheney fat roller. It's not really that fun to surf with a short board. You'll be lucky to get 2 good hits max. Did I mention it's crowded?

After reading through the negative reviews and staying here for a few nights, I feel they are mainly due to ignorant subjectivity.
For a being a remotely based budget accomodation provider, the prices for food and drink is well priced, fresh, and well prepared. The hot days are matched with both the sea and a pool, a long with AC just to take the edge off at night when you sleep. There is just the right amount of chill and then obviously the state of the party is guided by what the guests bring! Keep up the good work guys, I can invision you will need to be expanding soon! Also a more varied Playlist wouldn't hurt.
