good restaurant and nice rooftop. free tea in the evenings.
the bed was very uncomfortable.
room was clean
Went there for breakfast and had the worst experience. The place looks nice, but the staff are untrained (couldn't make us sangrias when they confirmed that they had all the ingredients.), the food came out unedible (I sent one plate back and could hardly eat its replacement). The only good thing is that the chef did come out of the kitchen and apologize, but he didn't ask us how everything else was, presumably because they all knew that nobody in our group of 6 was pleased with the food. Don't trust the menu - we did not receive what was promised on it. No salad, wrong cheese, bad ingredients, bad bread. The OJ was good - fresh squeezed. The coffee was chapin, more water than coffee.
We were so excited that there was a new breakfast place in town, but this is a total bust.
this place had nice israeli style food. Good accomodation
In 50 countries and a ton of hostels, this was the absolute worst experience I've ever had - no other hostel has even come close. The owner helped me book a volcano tour in the afternoon when I arrived. I had to be up for the tour around 5:30am. The hostel had a written policy that it's quiet after around 10pm. Early in the evening, the owner got wasted and was still blasting music beyond 10pm. Around 11pm, I asked if he could turn the music down "a little" so I could go to sleep and get up for the tour - he turned it UP. He also suggested I sleep with one of two boys to help them get "some experience". It was unreal. He raged until just past midnight. I didn't make the tour. If you value professionalism, AVOID.
When I randomly went to Holistico with another backpacker that I met on my way, I didn't expect to stay more than 3 days there but it was before I met the wonderful staff that made me feel like home in a minute! Not only did they give me precious advice on places to visit but we also hang around together at the hostel or outside and I ended up staying 6 days! :)
Organized around a nice patio with plants, hammocks and a bar, the hostel has small but comfy dorms, lockers, clean bathrooms with real hot water and a tasty breakfast is included in the price of the night. The rooftop terrace makes a perfect place for a beer at night or a view on the volcanoes during the day while the not-pushy travel agency on premise has the best prices for any excursion you might want to do!
Special mention to the staff for handling a bed bug problem that came with a traveler: they fumigate the dorms and backpacks the same day making sure the pest was gone right away!
