  I spent many months there over the past several years while I was studying Spanish. I like the owner and the other employees and it was a great place to meet new friends from all over the world

  First of all, the place is not a hotel but a Spanish Teaching School with spare room being rent out as "hotel rooms".I chose this place based on the price and the reviews I have read online. Let me start with the positive observations: the quasi-hotel is very centrally located. It is 3-5 mins walk to the Centro/main park and 3 blocks from the infamous market/mercado and chicken bus station. In addition, it is cheap relative to other hotels/accommodation in Antigua (I was there on a weekend). Now with the negative observations. The hotel staff seems aloof and lacking social skills. Further, there is a no front desk or any staff at all past 5pm or 6pm, which might be worrisome specially in an event of emergency. I went back to my room around 7pm and the place was dark and I had to turn the lights on myself. They give you a pair of keys for the gate and room and you're pretty much on your own. In terms of the room,it is pretty basic with only one electric outlet and no window. Also, the doors don't look very secure and don't lock properly. The bed and bedding don't look very clean and not comfortable at all. Lastly, when I asked them about the transportation to Flores,Guatemala the front desk tried to even gauge me and quoted me a very expensive price. I eventually found one about 30% less than what they're asking me.
