I can't even say enough good things about this place :-) what an amazing way to arrive, in a boat a short distance away through a mangrove forest to this beautiful and quiet little hotel. The cost was reasonable, the food was good, and the owner Peter was amazingly generous and helpful. There was even a free row boat and a kayak that you could take out to the swimming platform where we did yoga and jumped in the lake. I've been recommending this place to all my friends that are passing through the area. Don't forget to also take a little day trip to the warm waterfalls!

A quaint little escape in the mangrove jungle of Rio Dulce. A place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Head to the Sundog Cafe and ask them to call you a free boat ride to Casa Pdrico.

The hotel has an amazing location. You arrive there with the boat from rio dulcé in this beautiful lush jungle paradise. From my nice clean room i had a nice view on the little river. The hotel is clean and really relaxing. You can swim or use a free kayak or hang in the hamock. They have a free library and a little self service café. You can eat really good meals in the restaurants witch are cooked really good. They also have good drinks, i recommend the local rum. If you want to explore you can always take the boat to the town or even to somewhere else. I really recommend the boat trip to Livingston. Also the Qurigua ruins are good if you like history and birds, the local buses to there are also a pleasant adventure. In short i would recommend this accommodation 100% and i think a three night stay there is perfect.

This is a very peaceful place to stay. The dorm is basic, but private rooms are available. The kitchen serves up great breakfast lunch and dinner. What I didn't like about this place is that you need to take a boat ride to do anything, like visit the town, the castle and other attractions. They do provide free kayaks if you get cabin fever. The Swiss guys who run this place are very nice.

Exactly what I needed.
After rushing through the Highlands for 3 days to visit Semuc Champey, this piece of heaven was a much welcomed stop.
The area makes your want to slow down and enjoy the sounds of nature, the views surrounding the property and everything else in it. The people are really nice and honesty is key here.
The rooms/houses are super cozy and nice. There is no AC or heat, this is pure Guatemala relaxation, not a super 8. The the second level of the houses is open to nature on the side to let you be one with nature. The showers are nice and warm and a laundry service is offered.
The common area fills up in the evening until about 10pm but yet stays really quiet as this is not a place to party.
You get get the people from Sun Dog cafe to call their boat to come pick you up and the boat is usually there within half hour. The ride is approximately ten minutes. The trip to and from is free but any extra trip to town is an extra 25Q.
I would highly recommend this place if you're wanting to relax, disconnect, take in the sounds of nature and live in the moment, without stress.
I would not recommend of you're looking for a party, want "first world" accommodations or the freedom of walking freely on the city streets.response / report this review -

Delicious food, nice staff and an amazing location.
