A beautiful Spanish-Style hotel with all of the necessary amenities. The view from the rooftop is spectacular.

Hotel el Carmen was a great experience. It was quaint, the rooms were small but clean, and the service was really great. Breakfast was included and was also really good, and served on the terrace. The view on the terrace is beautiful!! Overall great experience. Recommend.

It has a great view from the roof top and the breakfasts served there are just wonderful. What I like is the service that I get from all the people working there. The people I met while I visited was Antonio in recepción, Susy in housekeeping, and Oto in the restaurant, I'm a people person and so remembering names is what I like. They were all wonderful people! I will definitely come back to this place!

My favorite spot in Antigua! The hotel keeps on remodeling and the beds are the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The views from the terrace are breathtaking and breakfast is always hot and delicious :)

We stayed here with a couple of friends, we all had to switch rooms because of the humidity in the rooms assigned. The city had some water problems and the hotel didn't bother to try and find a solution until the morning after.
The walls are so thin you can here evrything, so I wouldn't mark it as a kid friendly place as a consideration for sleeping guests. Even though there are some rude staff and guests who didn't mind on being as rude as to be chopping (I thought they were hammering, and had to ask them at 6 am to please stop), banging suitcases down the stairs, or doing live videos in front of the rooms.
I do not recommend this place at all. You are better off in a hostel.
The only 2 positive things I could find in the hotel was the breakfast and rooftop view. But you could find this things in another café or restaurant in the city.response / report this review -

This Hotel is very bad. If you can choose another option, consider it. The staff is very gentle. But the place is horrible.
Our first room was incredibly humid. There was a horrible smell. The tv did not work.
We asked for a room change and the staff was very comprehensive and gave us another room.
The room was not humid. I thought, ok, no problem lets forget about the last one. Then we found out that there was no running water in the bathroom. We couldn't go to the bathroom in a comfortable way because we couldn't flush. Also we had to wash our teeth with bottled water. And finally you could hear every working tv of other guests
I would advise to consider your choice of hotel. With the money they charge here you can get better deals.

Mi opción favorita en Antigua Guatemala. El personal es muy atento las habitaciones son muy bonitas y limpias. Todas cuentan con baño privado. Tienen una terraza con una hermosa vista a los volcanes que rodean a La Antigua.

Really nice old colonial hotel with good staff, but there is no aircon, fans or secure windows which leaves the room very damp and stuffy. Wi-Fi also eratic.

I stayed here 2 nights. The service was excellent, the people that work there are friendly. my room was very clean the Sheets Were fresh and that's one of the most important things for me. It is walking distance from Central Park and all the archaeological sites you would like to see. They offer breakfast along with your stay and the service was just superb.
