This hotel is beautifully decorated and has an amazing view to lake Atitlán. It's mandatory to reserve a table for restaurant service.

I visited today with my husband and father in law, whom both are from Guatemala. We were looking to check out the place for future visits/family events, as well as grab a beer/meal. A young girl met us at the top of the stairs and within the first minutes let us know the hotel was hosting a private event and then used a hand gesture to show us that after we looked around quickly, we'd have to go. We descended the stairs and she hurried to the bottom, getting ahead of my elderly father-in-law whom required a little extra time to get down the stairs. She then walked inside and away from us, never waiting for everyone to catch up. She never introduced herself or ever told us about the hotel. We felt unwanted and basically we'll never return. Not one employee fretted us or said hello, with the one exception of the kind gate gaurd. If you're in the service industry, invest in training of your employees on proper ettiguette and manners. Maybe even teach her how to smile.

Casa Palopó is a cozy, 7-bedroom luxury retreat perched above the majestic Lake Atitlan. Its privileged hillside location offers sprawling lake and volcano views from every room and nearly every point on the property. The newer 2-bedroom villa with private helipad and infinity pool is located on a hill above the main hotel and is a perfect option for those looking for more seclusion (the villa's rooms can be rented individually but without access to the rest of the house's amenities such as the pool).
All 7 rooms of the main house are uniquely decorated and adorned with local textiles, floor to ceiling windows, and cozy furnishing. Upon arrival to our room, we were given a wonderful 10 minute-foot massage on our balcony. This complimentary gesture was so wonderful, we then booked a 60-minute massage in the privacy of our room. We felt completely relaxed and pampered after this relaxing massage and soak in our outdoor tub.
Dinner was a lovely, romantic ambiance with open-air seating (if you preferred), candlelit chandeliers, and a glowing fire. The scallop appetizer and the pasta entree were both well presented and tasty. Breakfast was delicious with freshly made breads, homemade jams, and tropical fruits (more a la carte options available).
The hotel currently offers in-room spa services and is opening a spa behind the pool area in the coming months.
No TVs, teens/adults only, Relais & Châteaux property

An amazing place (if expensive!). For very special occasion we as a ig group hired the entire 3 bedroom villa and had an amazing time. The chef and manager were very very nice and accommodating. I would highly recommend getting the helicopter in.

Casa Palopó is defined as a Luxury Resort. With a few limited incredible rooms with the one of the best views of Lake Atitlan. That is where the incredible stops.
Casa Palopó has a Restaurant that we have attempted to take guests and enjoy the food.
Never worked out that way. The last time we were 5 in our party, the Restaurant was empty and then the manager parked a group of 15 right on top of us.
The food expensive and poorly prepared. I have been told that the owner has invited back a previous manager to take control.response / report this review -

Casa palopo is a beautiful intimate Hotel where each room is decorated differently and with style. The staff is extremely well-trained, the chef, who is also the hotel manager, takes time to talk to his guests and unlike most managers he truly enjoys it. His food is outstanding, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere is completely relaxing and elegant. A few days before arrival they informed us that they could not give us the room we had booked for reasons outside of their control. They more than made up for the inconvenience..many times over. This level of professionalism is very rare these days the hotel business no matter how much you pay. All this adds up to an incredible experience and I fully recommend casa palopo to everyone visiting Guatemala.

Amazing small retreat. The place is just Wonderful in every detail. Awesome views of the lake Atitlan and the volcanos. The service is very attentive and helpful and always receive you with a bright smile. Too bad we only stayed for one day, we wish we could stay longer
