The night preceding our stay here we stayed at the Westin Camino Real in Guatemala City (a very good hotel), and were excited to spend a few days at its sister hotel, the Camino Real Tikal.
First and foremost the staff of this hotel deserve credit, they were all very helpful and friendly and I could not fault them. The hotel and its facilities however have a number of issues which boil down to it being a very tired, dated hotel which I can only assume survives somehow without any repeat custom. It is a hotel which seems to be a 90's recreation of a 70's hotel; avoid until the quality matches the price tag ($200+ a night)
