Terrible customer service. Refused to close the windows and turn the air conditioning on even when stuck behind diesel trucks.
I can’t recommend Travel Agency Atitrans to anyone for a lot of reasons.I only had a bus ride with their bus from Guatamala City to Antigua and it was enough for me to write a bad review for this company, which really doesn’t happen often.
We booked the bus saying that we were two people with one surfboard. Everything was fine. The bus driver acted out when he came in, saying he can’t take us, for no concrete reason. There was enough space for everyone, they even had extra space on their roof and the driver didn’t want to use it, again on his own will. He started being arrogant.
He then tried to charge us for bringing this luggage. Our hotel had to call Travel Agency Atitrans in order to avoid that unfair fee, as it wasn’t part of the agreement. It took them 15 minutes to come to the conclusion that this didn’t make any sense and the we were allowed on their bus.
While putting our board in the bus, the driver deliberately tried to hit it with someone else’s luggage, until I had to stop him. During that moment, he asked me the price of my board and I started feeling unsafe. I tried to help him placing the luggage well in the trunk (there was heaps of space), but he wanted to do it his way. The result was that another client’s suitcase fell from the bus to the ground. I hope they didn’t have any valuables.
On the road, I heard clients complaining about his driving and they had a good reason to. He was driving more aggressively and dangerously than what we normally see in Central America and was spending more time on his phone than looking at the road. At one point he didn’t see a truck coming our way until the truck horned. At that moment, I wished I wasn’t in the bus anymore.
At our destination, the driver tried to charge us again and was complaining to everyone of the company about me. I felt unsafe and had no trust in this company, or anyone who was working there as they were looking at me while talking to the driver.
During the whole ride, I tried to help him and took care of my board myself. The other clients felt in no way that my board was in their way, I actually asked them if everyone was fine with it. The real problem was about the driver’s overall attitude and dangerous driving. For the same price, you’ll find heaps of buses going to Antigua/Guatemala City, don’t make my mistake and don’t take Travel Agency Atitrans.
1. The driver asked for my luggage to "load it into the bus", then promptly tossed it in haphazardly through an open window. My backpack landed upside down on the seat then rolled onto the floor. Things in the pockets fell out all over the bus floor. My laptop was inside. 2. After being dropped off in Guatemala City I realized I had left a small item in the bus. Not a crucial item, just something I wanted to make sure didn't get thrown away- I'd be back in the office in 6 days anyway and could pick it up them. I called the central office, they called the driver, then spoke to me a second time to confirm. I described the item and exactly where I had left it on the bus, and they took down my name and info and the day that i'd be back to pick it up (they had my return reservation in the system already). 3 hours later the driver showed up at my hotel with the item, demanding money for his time and gas sitting in traffic bringing it back. I refused to pay, saying he needed to talk to his coworker in the office who confirmed the item would not be returned tonight, but held for me in Antigua. He said he wouldn't be paid, and kept demanding money. I refused to pay.
3. My return trip was scheduled for 6 days later, a Tuesday. When I arrived at the hotel Monday night, they said the shuttle had arrived for me at 6am on Saturday, annoyed when I wasn't there.
4. The hotel offered to call the shuttle company to confirm the mixup, and that they'd return on the correct day. We confirmed this the night before. I'm on the 6am shuttle. It's currently 6:30, no shuttle has come, and no one is answering the phone in the main office.
Buen servicio, microbuses modernas. La atenciĂłn de los choferes es muy agradable. 100% recomendado para conocer Guatemala, pregunten por Armando.
Sight seeing Guatemala with them. A good service
Atitrans is a great way to travel Guatemala. Our trip to Lake Atitlan was flawless. On our way back there was some confusion with my reservation and a shuttle didn't come. But the tour company made arrangements so that I made it back to Guatemala Airport on time for my flight. Well done! Will recommend in the future.
We took a shuttle from Antigua to Panajachel. In generell the trip was ok, but the driver didn't put a tarpaulin on all the luggage on the top to cover them. It started raining very heavy and the driver was not about cover our staff so all the luggage got completely wet. Fair enough on a chicken bus, but when I pay 95Q I can expect that my backpack gets covered.
Excellent customer service! Friendly and honest. They were helpful from the moment we called them to the moment we left them. The driver was experienced and savvy.
