I am giving Mango Bay 5 stars because, after a week there, we felt at home and upon leaving it, miss it dearly. If we ever go back to Fiji, we would definitely stay again. It is quiet and removed, far from the road and close to the beach. 2 hours from Nadi and 2 hours from Suva, equidistant from Sigatoka and Pacific Harbor.
My wife and I are young and adventurous so we were looking for a place that would be friendly, personal and a more natural taste of Fiji.
What such a small place might lack in food and service (both were quite satisfactory) it makes up for in its peace and friendliness. It is also small enough that we were able to make friends with all the other guests and would go snorkeling or on inland Island tours with them.
I think the only negative experience we had (though I should hardly complain) was being there during Christmas. Christmas fell on a Monday which of course falls after Sunday. For both of those days, all the activities that one might do at the resort shut down because most of the staff took off. On one hand this is understandable because its Christmas but on the other hand, we were quiet disappointed that our plans of getting a group together and taking the boat for a trip in Beqa fell through. Christmas dinner was delicious but I for one, being quite active, sorely missed the opportunity.
But all the other days were fun and after Christmas, the place began planning activities again.
So a tip: Get good confirmation from the front desk when trying to plan actives ahead of time or have a back up plan. We trusted the desk when they said to just show up and they'd make plans but this lead to only limited success.
One final tip: The website says that their are kayaks, snorkel masks, fins etc. This is true but we brought our own snorkels and we glad we did as the ones for common use were a bit old.
Overall, we loved our time there and did not want to leave.response / report this review -

Beautiful and isolated resort.Staff was very friendly and many activities are available. I would definitely recommend this resort !

I really enjoyed the stay here.celebrated christmas with my wife n 2 kids.really nicevery quite n peaceful santuary..on the other hand the staffs at the reception mr.wise mililivithe activity guy the chef's all were very friendly n caring.must visit

Over the last 2 months this quiant Resort had gone through an amazing transformation with a new upgrade of its pool, kitchen, restaurant area and foreshore. You've just got to visit!

This hotel is one of a kind. There is a great mixture between natura and hotel facilities. The rooms are gathered through different Fijian Names and are spread across a regional forest. In front of Mango Bay there is a really nice, crystal clear beach where people can swim and there is the option if you head in the left part to see a long beach side full of shells, crabs in a volcano style beach. Mango Bay offers traditional Fijian food for lunch and dinner and they are organising local activities for the tourists, such as waterfall walks, horse riding, scuba diving, fishing by renting a boat and many more opportunities in a daily basis. This hotel is a hidden paradise, full of natural life and kind staff to serve you! I can recommend it enough!

Quiet, romantic place. Beach view room has outdoor showers. Hot water system is not perfect and food is expensive.

A bit more upscale than Beachouse but not quite as cool for your backpackers in my opinion. Maybe more family oriented ! Great place, amazing sunset though.

It's a stunning place for relaxing eaither with your family or your love. Beautiful view to the ocean, a lot of activities (free) and other with an extra cost. Good food. Great value for price

The staff where extremely friendly and helpful. They always made sure that we had plenty to do and made you feel at home. The overall look of the resort was like the pictures on the Internet but sadly that's where it stops. The rooms are not what you see on the internet, much smaller and tired looking. They don't include a fridge(I've been to 2 star places and they have it). In the room we stayed you could hear everything in the next room(even whispering), which really sucks. Don't get me wrong though the staff did there best to make it look good.
The resort does have plenty of free, fun activities to do which is a big thumbs up. This is what attracted us and it didn't disappoint.
The food is expensive twice the price then eating at a fancy restaurant in Fiji, highly recommended you bring your own snacks. Alcohol is very expensive, we had a big budget for alcohol($1000) l but I wasn't willing to pay their prices so we only spent less than $200.
The resort is very far from anywhere (2hrs from Nadi) unfortunately the resort takes advantage of that and charges twice as much as anywhere else. They sting you $180pp for a trip to Nadi.
A few years ago this place used to be the best place to go to but the new owners have wreaked it. The owner/manager spend all day in the main eating/drinking area watching us and the staff, actually made us feel uncomfortable. They are rude and really don't care about what you have to say. EVERY person we talked to at the resort who was staying there wasn't happy and had the same view as us.
This place is beautiful but it needs work. I would definitely come back but the owner needs to get a new manager who knows how to run a resort.
Sadly it's going to get worse if they continue to be money hungry. I'm sorry but you can't have a resort charging 4-5 star prices but at a less then 3 star standard.response / report this review -
