The wai bar is great for a relaxing lunch even if you aren't staying there. Mili the barmaid is friendly and helpful, and baravi is an excellent chef!
The lady at the main restaurant needs a lesson in being nice to non-white folks, but otherwise a great experience :)response / report this review -

An amazing place to vacation. The staff were friendly and incredibly accomadating. The food was good and the swim up bar just cannot be beat. There isn't much to do on the island but Koro Sun arranges activities everyday to keep you busy. I would definitely go back.

My husband and I were only there for three short days, but by the end of our stay, we knew the names of many of the people who had helped us. Koro Sun is in a quiet, secluded area - no phones and shoddy wifi, just you and nature. That being said, the staff went over and beyond to ensure our comfort, to the point of tracking us down who knows where in the resort (remember, no phones) to return some queries we'd had the previous day. The staff are the epitome of hospitality!

We have visited Koro Sun almost every year since 2006. This is a beautiful resort with exceptional accommodations and services. Each villa is a stand-alone and some even have private pools. All have gorgeous views of either the manicured grounds or the Koro Sea. The cuisine is prepared by local chefs and includes many Fijian specialties. Frequent ethnic entertainment is provided by local villagers. This is unquestionably the best resort on the island of Vanua Levu. One of the things Koro Sun is noted for is the Rain Forest Spa where guests are treated to a full-body massage in the midst of the forest next to waterfalls. Many activities are available in the surrounding area and children are welcome always. The best feature about Koro Sun is the staff. They are courteous, caring and provide outstanding customer service.

If you come across any negative reviews of Koro Sun I would advise to take them with a grain of salt.
This resort, or really any place you travel to outside of your home country is all about setting your expectations.
With Koro Sun, you should set your expectations as such:
- Expect a much more authentic Fijian experience than your big name hotels
- Expect peace and quiet, and to just take in the natural beauty of this place
- Expect the food to be a little less fresh and possibly a smaller selection than normal (you're on an island off another island after all!)
- Expect everything to take a little longer, because what's the rush anyway? Fiji time is a real thing!
- Expect there to be bugs, frogs, fish and other wildlife co-habiting the surrounds with you
- Expect the Wi-Fi to be unreliable and slow, but still appreciate that it's there at all
- Expect a Bula! Every time you walk past a staff member
- Expect the staff to know your name after a day or two
- Expect to feel part of the family, as the people here are some of the kindest and most generous you will ever meet

This is a quaint budget-resort and it feels like it. They have a few newer bures which are nice but as a whole this shouldn't be classified as a 4-star resort. The people were very friendly, our activity guide, Dobes, was just the best and they had really good massages. The actual hotel itself if a little run down, outdated. We had a bure that was right on the water but you notice in the photos that low tide means the water moves out like 30 meters twice a day and there isn't really any normal sandy beach to relax on. We also found it difficult to get even slightly tipsy as there was only one bartender making service quite slow and they didn't start serving drinks until around dinner.

Our experience is one we will never forget. We are now lucky enough to call the people who work their our friends. Mary rose, Mavis, Brett and never forget junior. And all the others I can't name. Their smile lit up Koro. We had perfect days. Snorkelling. The private beach picnic is a must. And the day finishing with drinks in the wai bar. A beautiful infinity pool bar that over looks the most incredible sunsets. While junior is mixing you a tinks tropicana.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is super nice and always helpful. I don't personally have kids but we stayed with several groups of friends who all had kids and the staff was so great with them. The kids were begging to go to the kids zone and hang out with the staff.

This Fajian resort was a wonderful location to spend our honeymoon at. Very friendly and accommodating staff enhanced our trip greatly. Their Edge water villas were awesome (just realise your in the tropics so expect to run into wasps/ bugs and gekos). We hope to return, and highly recommend this slice of paradise.

First I will list the positives:
The staff are very helpful and beautiful in nature and incredibly friendly (as the Fijians are). There is a list of activities on a board to do every day. I took the waterfall tour and we visited a local village which was worth the trip.
If you wanted book and were passing by and wanted to experience Fijian hospitality, maybe pop in. My bure was incredibly spacious and I loved laying in the hammock every day. It was absolutely delightful to watch the sun rise and set. I could see a fish or two swimming below. I was lovely to go to the main swimming pool for an early morning swim and look at the ocean, whilst I was leaning and wading in the pool. You can order lunch from this pool until until about - I think? 3pm or so. My room was spotless and air conditioned with a fan and cleaned thoroughly everyday. You can help yourself to the snorkel gear and flippers from the activity hut. The grounds are lush and very pretty to walk around.
The negatives: This should not be on the Luxury Escapes List. (Edgewater Bures are 4.5 but the remainder of the resort is more like 3.5 star) From my Edgewater Bbure I could not get into the water at high tide. I had to sit down on the concrete slab and sort of scramble over rocks. As did 3 others who had Edgewater Bures. The free breakfast was quite average. A Fijian bread is cooked everyday – whilst it was ok to try it once or twice you could not eat it every day as it was so doughy. Plain white bread and whole bread is available with jam and peanut butter. And boiled eggs are in a bowl to take. No fresh tropical fruit? Yet I saw lots of bananas and paw paws on the trees? I think there was corn flakes and another cereal. Very average 3 star stuff. The coffee was disgusting! And poured from one coffee pot the left overs into another. OMG. They had a sickly sweet choice of 2 juices (not fresh). So I drank tea. Herbal. They only supplied whole milk - remember I booked this through Luxury Escapes.
I did pay extra on a few days to have a different breakfast, although it was quite average, not really worth the money. Once you sit down they ask what you want for lunch – are you kidding me! I just sad down for breakfast. I learned to order lunch at the pool. Many of us agreed – as nicely as we could, that the food was overcooked and dry. In the main part of the hotel and in the seafood restaurant. One day I was sick (never order drinks with ice!) and I had to order a fresh dinner – it was much better than pre-ordering. I complimented them only as I finally had a meal that wasn't dry.
The mini bus that took us to the town centre was very run down and very very old.
There's concrete cancer in the kids pool. Whilst there are 3 pools, they're quite small and in the off peak time, there were quite a few people at the main pool. The mattresses on the deck chairs are old and rusted with zippers not working. Rusted sliding doors in my bathroom that stands out terribly (that's why I gave the bure a 4.5 rather than a 5) . The bikes were all rusted and there were no helmets and you have to ride on the main road. I don't think the owners treat the staff well, certainly when you know what staff have in other resorts. I don't think this place is doing very well. They have a lot of work to do, to make it a luxury place. Otherwise, just call it a 3 star resort please. I highly suggest a TV in the room with movies at the very least for when its raining. Oh, did I mention the libraryits non existent. Its a cupboard with a few old board games and some books in Russian? This place is not worth the small plane flight from the main island. There are many other luxury places you can go to in Fiji. It cost me about $3,000 aust for the week.response / report this review -

Being a non.white some of the staff were not very attentive. The feeling was definately there from some of the staff but the rest were wonderful. Breathtaking views all around and pristine clear water in Bay. The garden view bure was substandard to what you pay for and was not clean and lots of ants crawling. Paid extra to upgrade to edgewater Bure which was clean and pleasant. However suggest you take your slippers if don't like walking barefeet in out of the bureau as no slippers are provided.

Where do I begin, we booked not knowing what to expect, didnt want the main island rush so took a punt, family of four and a pool Bure house. Probably in need of general upgrade only In regards to kitchen utensils etc and other than that we didn't have a TV , and didn't need one, if u go and expect to sit around and drink cocktails then do it . There is something different for everyone , but the daily activity board made us jump out of bed at 6 am and embrace the culture and the island . All the staff were wonderful in their own unique wAy. I recommend the school visit to make u realise that life is fantastic, diving , snorkelling, flower arranging, volleyball, cooking, a banana massage, great food and culture. We headed out to the local Saturday market bought colourful crayfish prawns and fish, bought back to our Bure and cooked it, the staff gladly gave me a frying pan, you only have to ask,. We came home thinking after the wonderful friendships we made, not only staff but guests we would move there, the simple things in life are the best and appreciation of the Fiji culture keeps your mind and heart alive. Thank you to Koro sun can't wait to see u all again

My family has had many travels around the world, and this has probably been the worst place we've ever stayed. So bad that we even left early.
Our room was of poor quality, not very luxurious, no tv, poor wifi, not hot water for showers.
The food was terrible, you are made to eat at set times 7-9 for breakfast was too early for us and we never made it in time and were left hungry. And as for the food their were only 2 or 3 options per night and were made to pre order. Food quality was so poor that we spent all our nights eating out in town, which became very expensive.
Overall appalling stay spent most of my holiday in tears, won't be back.response / report this review -

The staff are tremendous. Really appreciated Shayne, Milli, just to name a few. Loved the 29" black beach cruisers. My snorkel experience was a wild adventure, Anna knows what I am talking about. Miss you guys Vanaka Vakalevu
