We only had a couple of days in Ethiopia, but Highland Eco Tours arranged for visits to Axum and Lalibela. Everything went off without a hitch. Our guides in Axum and Lalibela made each visit memorable and covered lots of ground in a brief time. Haftom in Axum was great and made our visit special by making sure we could participate in the monthly Ark of the Covenant procession. Abebe made sure we visited each of the monolithic churches in Lalibela and helped us understand the significance of each. This brief stay in Ethiopia was well worth it and exceeded our expectations.

We booked our 4 days community based trek to Abune Yosef with them. It was well organized and We had unforgetable time with the highlander community, we visited schools, take part on some farm activities and lived their life.
I recommend highland eco trekking tours to anyone who love nature, culture and authentic experiance!response / report this review -

The trekking in Lalibela is incredibly beautiful and I very much recommend it, but this company is terribly expensive. We did a two-nights there days tour in Lalibela highlands and the experience is amazing, the people you find walking, the little settlements, it's like watching how life was 300 years ago. However the service provided by the company Highland Eco Trekking was certainly not according to their prices. The food, transport and accommodations were very cheap and the guide was a young nice guy but very inexperienced. We asked them later but there's no way the company can justify the prices they charged. My advice is do the tour but find someone that provides better service at lower rates.

Das war die beste Wanderung, ich mit Highland Eco Trekking Tours Ethiopia gemacht hatte. Der Reiseleiter ist sehr kompetent. Ich werde immer wieder mit denen nach Abune Yosef wandern. Dankeschön an den Reiseleiter Ashu.
