cool
After few houres of slow hiking the view from the top of the mountain was magnificent the landscape from the top looks amazing we manage to capture the sunset on the way out. Total round trip to our car we walk for around 6km.
We prefer to have a boy from the village to guide us instead of the guides. In the day time it's little hot so
It's better to travel in the early morning or afternoon around 3 .
What a wonderful mountain landscape. To be away from civilisation observing the sunrise and sunset might have given peace to the minds of monks. To be content with the moral stories from the paintings and the books they carried and struggle to lead virtuous life in this cunning world could have been difficult for the monk's of ancient times. There are some paintings but not very clear on the walls. There's a short cut from megab village through the fields that joins automobile road at the base of the mountain. Hiking is steep though little scary to reach this church along with maryam korkor.
Nothing short of amazing! Simply a must when visiting Ethiopia’s north. The climb is demanding but well worth the effort as the paintings are stunning
Wonderful place to visit but don't visit it with "gheralta guides association" they are the worst, they lie to you, and make your travel a bad thing.
