Wonderful place to visit but don't visit it with "gheralta guides association" they are the worst, they lie to you, and make your travel a bad thing.

Great views and interesting rock church. Separate small church nearby, which I am told has even better wall paintings.

Scary but exceptional views from the top of Gheralta (Land of hills and mountains) mountain. The hike was way more challenging than we had been led to expect but with the help of our friendly guide and one hired "scout" even I made it all the way to the summit where Maryam and Daniel Korkor churches sit. This hike is not for those with knee problems! But it was only about 90 or 100 minutes to the top. It must be about 2650 meters in elevation. The weather was perfect for an afternoon climb. We had no problems with the monk or "key man" and everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable.
