Breakfast is Perfect. Hotel is installed wir old Interieur.
Great hotel in a great location! I'd stay again!
Felt like a princess. Beautiful rooms with authentic decor, beautiful grounds, fantastic food one of the best meals I have had
Warning! This is a lengthy review that also includes some tips about the area. :)
Stayed there just last week. Very clean, quiet and great receptionists. Two particular receptionists were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for dinner and bars etc as well as even ringing to reserve seats as our Basque and Spanish is not great! Stephanie I think was the lady and the other I didn't catch his name.
The location is brilliant for the beach as it is only a short walk (less than 5mins) straight down. Really easy to find too. Also right outside the bus stop to go into the old town. This is the only small downside. Although it didn't bother us much as we were happy strolling on the beach across to the old town, where most Restaurants and bars are as well as walking tours etc. The bus is cheap, only €1.70 and takes 6/7mins. There are three beaches, the one closest is the smallest but quieter and tends to get your own area quite a bit easier.
We booked through their own website as found it cheaper than other websites. Also could select extras and we included the breakfast for each morning. Very reasonable for the selection you get and cheaper than paying when you get there I think. Not a huge amount of places open in the mornings for breakfast early, so just take that into consideration.
The room was perfect, spacious and enough hanging space and drawers for both of us. Bathroom was gorgeous with two sinks and a bath (a little small) as well as a shower. Always kept clean each morning. Was sometimes even cleaned, towels replaced and beds turned down by the time we got back from our breakfast!
Other things to note:
There was a safe in the room.
Parking is €17/day and they will park the car for you if you want to just park outside and bring your bags into reception they then keep the keys at reception for you. I heard them say there is no lift from the park up.
There is a wheelchair accessible entrance and lifts to all rooms. There is also a spot on the nearby beach that we noticed had a wheelchair sign and there was wheelchair access down to it.
Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the hotel. However, I've attached pictures of some places you should go to when visiting the area:
- the aquarium (10% discount, ask the hotel for stamp)
- chocolate shop details in the pictures in the old town
- walking tour or bike tour details in the pictures
- loco polo (best icecream/sorbet 'pops' you find! You can choose to dip it in milk white or dark chocolate and can also roll it in hazelnut or almond topping other options available)
- Sirimiri Pixtos bar had amazing food and service >in the old town. See my review on it.
- consider a day trip into Bilbao and go to the guggenheim, it is amazing and only 1hr 20mins from San Sebastian.
Little far away from old town. Reception gentlemen couldn't speak English. Double bed is for midgets. No ironing. Polite staff. Kept our luggage after check out.
Good 4 star hotel, nice and quiet, on the other side of bay from old town, but nice half hour stroll from hotel to the restaurants on the other side of the "Concha"
Great location clean good service and great breakfast
Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Close to the beach and public transport.
This hotel was great value for money. We had a triple room which was large and well laid-out, with a new and spacious bathroom. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Before our stay, I was slightly worried about the distance from the main town area, but it proved a pleasant 20 minute walk along the beautiful beachfront (well worth doing regardless). Alternatively, the bus is quick and stops right outside, or a taxi cost around 8 euros. We had a great stay.
You can't get much better than this. 2012 was our second year and we were remembered. That counts for a lot. Felt at home straight away. 2011 the Hairy Bikers were staying at the same time doing their Basque Country bit so if it was good enough for them it was good enough for us.Staff are friendly and helpful all round from reception to the bar where the snacks and breakfast are varied and superb to the restaurant where the food is more tahn acceptable and the Rioja flows freely.
Easy access to and from all main routes as well as to all beaches. Gateway to France or a stopover to the south or Portugal.
We will be back in 2013 and already looking forward to it.
Our thanks to you all.
