The rooms were clean and cozy. The location is excellent, right next to the train station and a 15 min walk from City centre. The staff was helpful and nice. The lobby was interesting and I would say trendy, my biggest complaint was that the slide that goes from first to base floor was not really a slide and I had to push myself for most of it's length. Not a big deal since it's meant as a interactive sculpture instead of an actual amusement attraction.

This is such a nice hotel with such a terrible management. Management and staff are unprofessional and can be quite rude.

Upon check in, I asked about breakfast and the gentelman checking me in said it’s going to be for €10 per person. I said great thank you, I’ll definitely have breakfast here.

Next day, after my wife and I had breakfast, we got billed for €32. I told them it should actually be €20 but it’s Ok, charge to the room as I don’t have my wallet on me.

The shocking thing happened here, the reataurant lady said, no, no you have to pay here. I explained that I am staying in the hotel and that I don’t have my wallet on me. She didn’t listen so I went to my room, got my wallet and went to reception.

Reception said as I didn’t pay on check in, I do not get the €10 offer. I explained nobody told me it’s even an offer and it’s their job to tell me how their system works, not mine. I asked to speak to a manager.

The manager said they don’t even have a €10 offer and that I can pay at the reception €32. I refused to take their one-time courtesy thing and paid €32. The manager seemed to care more about punishing the 2 employees who told me the price is €10 than to acually care about making me happy. I was literally yelled at by their employees for not having my wallet on me, the €12 were not the problem anymore but she failed to understand.

I’ve been in Europe for 3 weeks now and I stayed at Hilton, Movenpick, Sheraton, The Westin and other average 4 star hotels. I’ve seen not-so-amazing services but I have never seen anything like this. This is my first time staying at Barceló Malaga and will likely be my last.

I’m thankful I’m staying one day only in Malaga as I couldn’t deal with these people for 1 more day.

Apart from staff mentioned above, the hotel is actually quite beautiful and food is amazing, both for breakfast and dinner. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve seen even in any 5 star hotel I ever stayed in. Also, to be fair, some of the staff were quiet nice. The nice lady who made us the breakfast in the kitchenett was amazing and room service gentleman was quick and polite too.

Take the experience I had with management and reception staff out, I would definitely rate this a 5.

It's my second time staying this hotel, since my honeymoon, 2015 november.(almost 2 years since then). It's location is perfect for whom coming from the Malaga airport using RENFE or wanting to get to the beach. Not far from the beach. (Of course, taking a bus is recommended, if you want to save your time and energy). The staffs are nice. I Can't wait for my third time here, maybe with my kid who's not allowed to me yet.(I'm trying my best to have one. ^^).

Location not bad. It's right beside the train station. The reception is nice and I like the slide from the first floor down to ground floor. About 15min walk to Central malaga.

The rooms are very small. In our room on arrival 1 light was broken. The speakers in the bathroom don't work. The extractor fan in the bathroom is broken. The hair dryer is rubbish. The bathroom door is falling apart. There is very little room to put clothes away.

The furniture in the room is all a bit cheap. The wallpaper etc is all peeling and everything needs touched up.

It is ok. But I wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed here for 3 nights. I don't think it deserves a 4 star. Over $150 per night without basic service of a 4 star hotel - not only did they want to charge for slippers and also does not even provide any complimentary water. Even upon request the concierge refused to accommodate. Unbelievable.

Very nice hotel in Malaga. Very conveniently situated, but parking here is very expensive and finding a parking space in the street is almost impossible.

My husband and I stayed on 18/2 this was to celebrate our anniversary, @ 3am in the morning we were woken up by water coming into our room due to a storm, we were on the 3rd floor 🤔We were up to our ankles in water, my husband made his way to reception and the porter came up to inspect, the room was absolutely flooded, he moved us to another room but we left our belongings in there and said we would collect the next day. We couldn't get back to sleep and we had a long day ahead traveling back to Alicante, I spoke with someone on reception and informed him that I was not happy with the situation, I said we would need to stay another night as we were too tired to travel. He said he would speak to the manager and call me and let me know what they were going to do for our inconvenience. I received a call to say that our stay would be complimentary, which we thought was due given the circumstances. We checked out on the Monday on 20/2 and we were given an invoice for €16 for room service, which we paid, so we very surprised to find that they had taken payment without providing us with an invoice for one night?????? My husband called and spoke with the manager who said that they would only be honouring the first night free, to say we are angry is an absolute understatement not only is it a pure cheek as they have spoiled our anniversary but they didn't even mention at check out that they were charging us, also the anniversary gift a 100ml of Tom Ford cologne was stolen by a member of staff and when addressed was swept under the carpet, if that is the standards at which this hotel is ran then I'm would not recommend it to anyone

Well located for train/bus station but way overpriced for what's on offer.

The hotel is amazing for the price. The location is prime. My only 2 complaints are that the breakfast closes a bit too early, and they charge you for parking which I find to be obnoxious. Other than that, the staff were very helpful.

I loved the design at this hotel. Went for the mini suite as we were two adults and two children. Fantastic room with a great view. Friendly staff. Doesn't make it to five stars due to location and a good breakfast that wasn't great. Still, will highly recommend this hotel.
